It’s New York, new rules in the first poster for the upcoming slasher sequel, Scream VI, which finds the Ghostface killer transporting his murderous rampage to the subway as he terrorizes the Big Apple. Released courtesy of the official Scream Twitter account, the poster finds a familiar face (though not one you’re going to want to see) riding the rails as the serial killer follows the survivors of this year’s fifth Scream outing to New York City. You can check out the first poster for Scream VI below.

This will not be the first time that the Scream series has taken the iconic killer out of Woodsboro, with only the original Scream, Scream 4, and the 2022 offering taking place in the California town. But, as the old saying goes, while you can take the killer out of Woodsboro, he will follow you wherever you go and make your life a living hell. It’s a very old saying.

Moving to New York should give Ghostface plenty of places to hide and victims to slash, with Wednesday and Scream star Jenna Ortega declaring that Scream VI will introduce the most violent version of the slayer yet. “Ghostface gets a lot more intimidating. I just read part of the script, and it just gets more and more gory,” she said. “I think that this is probably the most aggressive and violent version of Ghostface we’ve ever seen, which I think will really be fun to shoot.”

Ortega is not the only one to tease the gore, with her co-star Melissa Barrera revealing the “more blood, more sweat” mantra on set. “There was a saying on set because (directors) Matt and Tyler were always asking for more blood and more sweat. They always just wanted more. “More blood spritz” was the saying because they would just always want more,” the actress explained. “With the last Scream, they were tip-toeing and trying to be very respectful of what the franchise had been, up until that point, and keeping their inner gory dreams at bay. But with this one, they were like, ‘We’re going all out.’ It’s potentially a hundred times gorier.”
