The score for the animated sequel Scoob! Holiday Haunt is currently getting recorded, but the problem is nobody may ever get to hear the music. Days ago, it was reported that Warner Bros. Discovery had axed both Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt even with each film practically completed. There are no plans for the studio to ever release either film in theaters or on streaming.

But producer Tony Cervone isn’t about to let spent money go to waste. He has taken to Instagram to share a post revealing that production has begun with stage musicians crafting the score. As Cervone notes in the post’s caption, the stage and musicians had already been paid for, so if nothing else, they’re going to make sure the movie’s score gets completed, even if it’s unlikely that fans will ever actually get the chance to hear it.

“So what do you do when the movie is canceled, but you’ve already paid for the stage and the musicians? You record the damn score!” Cervone said.

Scoob! Holiday Haunt’s Filmmakers Were Surprised by the News

Co-writer Paul Dini also recently expressed his shock over Scooby! Holiday Haunt getting the boot. With a post on Twitter, Dini expressed the great disappointment that he felt in the news, suggesting that it didn’t make much sense to axe a film that was almost fully finished. Dini also noted how audiences appeared to be enjoying the film at test screenings, further questioning the baffling decision to pull the movie from the schedule.

So what exactly is happening over at Warner Bros. Discovery? According to new Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, there’s a new strategy being put into place for upcoming movies and HBO Max shows. According to Zaslav, the idea is to give their slate a “reset” and focus only on producing high quality movies. If we’re reading between the lines, that might suggest that the new brass at Warner Bros. Discovery was not impressed with what they say of Scoob! Holiday Haunt, even if test screenings were going well. You can read the statement below.
