It was a matter of time before Saturday Night Live made a mockery of the Depp v Heard trial. On Saturday night’s new episode of the sketch comedy program, which featured host Selena Gomez and musical guest Post Malone, the show began with a cold open satirizing the televised proceedings. Both Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have shots taken at them in the skit, which you can watch in the video below.

In the skit, Depp (Kyle Mooney) is presented evidence by his lawyer (Aidy Bryant) about the “fecal matter” that had been allegedly left in his bed. As he provides his answers, Depp speaks in fragments while grinning frequently, spoofing the actor’s recent behavior in court. They then present video evidence of Depp’s staffers discovering the bed after it had been soiled, and the footage is played for the courtroom.

“Objection, that still wouldn’t prove my client is guilty of anything,” says Heard’s lawyer (Heidi Gardner).

“That’s true, but I’ll allow it, because it does sound fun, and this trial is for fun,” responds the judge (Cecily Strong).

In the evidence video, Depp’s property manager (Kenan Thompson) stumbles across the surprise that had been left in the bed. When another staffer (Ego Nwodim) questions how it got there, Thompson surmised that it must have been Amber Heard.

Well, remember, she already cut the boy’s finger off. And my daddy always told me, if a girl cuts your finger off, she will boo-boo in your bed," Thompson said as the staffers then proceeded to argue over whose job it was to clean it all up.

“Okay, I think I’ve seen enough,” the judge said in the closing moments of the sketch. “This trial has given me a lot to consider. On one hand, I believe Mr. Depp’s story. But, on the other hand, your constant little smirk lets me know that this is not the first woman that you made so mad that she [defecated] on your bed.”

“I guess I have been known to be a full nightmare,” Johnny Depp responds, putting on his shades.

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s Trial Continues

There has certainly been a lot for spectators to unpack as the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial goes on. Currently in a recess, the proceedings will resume on May 16. The “bed incident,” which is one of the biggest takeaways people seem to have from the trial, might be coming back up again if Depp’s lawyers bring it up to Heard during cross-examination.

The origins of this trial date back to 2016 when Heard publicly accused Depp of physical abuse. In 2018, she wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post describing herself as an abuse victim, and while she didn’t name Depp in the article, he says the connection was clear and had cost him his role as Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean series. He is suing Heard for $50 million in damages. Heard says she’s the one being defamed and has counter-sued for $100 million.
