MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY
Vanessa Bell Calloway as Lady Ella Johnson
E.W. Scripps Company
Known as Bell Calloway, she started her career as a dancer before becoming known for her film roles such as Princess Imani Izzi in the 1988 comedy Coming to America. She also had starring roles in TV and movies including Crimson Tide (1995), Under One Roof (1995), and Daylight (1996). She had recurring roles in Hawthorne and Shameless before joining the cast of Saints & Sinners in 2016 as Lady Ella Johnson, who is secretive and a strong female character eventually taking over as Mayor, but sins just as much as the rest of the town.
Gloria Reuben as Mayor Pamela Clayborne
Gloria Reuben joined the cast of Saints & Sinners as the initial Mayor Pamela Clayborne for just the first two seasons. Her character was complex, especially when her husband and her lover are murdered together, after her husband killed her lover’s husband. She is well known for her role in the medical drama ER playing Jeanie Boulet for which she was twice nominated for an Emmy Award. As well as starring in the 2012 Academy Award-winning Steven Spielberg film Lincoln as Elizabeth Keckley, she has featured in films such as Timecop (1994), Nick of Time (1994), Reasonable Doubt (2014).
Christian Keyes as Levi Sterling
Keyes started off his career by first appearing in stage plays before hitting the big screen in movies such as Perfect Combination (2010), Lord, All Men Can’t be Dogs (2011), Note to Self (2012), Act Like you Love Me (2013), and The Man in 3B (2015). In 2016, he joined the cast of Saints & Sinners as male lead Levi Sterling. Keyes’ character was complex, much like the majority of the cast; someone who is introduced to us as going through a divorce, while trying to look after his daughter. We struggled alongside Levi for three seasons, loving him one minute and questioning his actions in the next.
Jasmine Burke as Dr. Christie Johnson
Burke started her acting career appearing in small parts in films such as Daddy’s Little Girls (2007), The Secret Life of Bees (2008), and Mississippi Damned (2009). You can see her in TV dramas such as Making The Band 3, The Vampire Diaries, Drop Dead Diva, and Army Wives. She joined the cast of Saints & Sinners in 2016 as Dr Christie Johnson. Although Christie has accomplished a lot in her life so far, she very rarely has it all under control. With much drama going on around her, having Dr as her title might not be enough to deal with it all.
Clifton Powell as Rex Fisher
Powell has had an expansive career, appearing in more than 100 films from the beginning of the 1980s, these include Menace II Society (1993), Dead Presidents (1995), Why Do Fools Fall in Love (1998), Rush Hour (1998), Next Friday (2000), and its 2002 sequel, Friday After Next. He has had many recurring roles and guest roles on television until he was cast as Rex Fisher, main antagonist in Saints & Sinners.
Despite Rex being friends with the pastor, he is definitely, unofficially the bad guy; and he’s good at being bad. When the pastor took his route to God, Rex took his route to the streets, but despite how “bad” he can be, he still contemplates whether this is the right lifestyle for him. Nevertheless, anyone who crosses his path will surely regret it.
Keith Robinson as Miles Calloway
Robinson first started out as a singer, signing a contract with Motown Records, however the label never went on to issue any of his material. So after moving to Los Angeles, Robinson turned to acting and secured a role in the TV series Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue as Joel Rawlings, the Green Lightspeed Ranger. You can also see Robinson on the big screen in films such as Fat Albert and Mimic: Sentinel.
In 2016, he joined the cast of Saints & Sinners as former music minister and R&B one-hit wonder Miles Calloway for its full duration. Miles is struggling to save his music career, but things take a turn for the worst for him when he has an affair with the preacher’s daughter. He very quickly comes to realize he’s dug himself a very deep hole, and there’s no telling whether he can get himself out of it.
David Banner as Pastor Darryl Greene
Born Lavell William Crump, Banner adopted his stage name David Banner as an American rapper, record producer, and actor. He began his music career as a member of rap duo Crooked Lettaz, until his solo career which began in 2000. He was signed to Universal Records in 2003 which saw his music career garner him a variety of top hits.
After playing his own character in a couple of video game productions, Banner went on to appear on our TV screens in This Christmas (2007), Days of Wrath (2008), The Butler (2013), and The Ride Along (2014), and he joined the cast of Saints & Sinners in 2017-2018 as the heart of the community, Pastor Darryl Greene. However, the pastor has his own secrets and his own conflicts to be dealing with, let alone everyone else’s.
