Anyone who is a fan of iconic fashion dresses would be aware of the classic style of Thierry Mugler. Naoko Takeuchi is a dedicated fashionista who drew inspiration for Queen Beryl’s dark purple gown from many dresses from Thierry Mugler’s 1992 ready-to-wear and haute couture collections. Particularly, one can see how she took inspiration from the iconic horn-shaped neckline design from the outstanding silver dress that Ivanka Trump wore during the Spring-Summer collection runway showcase. The dress was specifically notable for its shape and deep neckline, which made it seductive but so elegant at the same time.

This skin-tight sultry yet royal allure dress, as well as its exposed neckline, is ideal for a villain like Queen Beryl. The cruel leader who demanded the destruction of the Sailor Scouts, yet, at the same time, flaunted her position as the malevolent Commander of the Dark Kingdom. Thus, the horn-shaped dress with a black forehead tiara fits her essence perfectly.

5 Extraordinary Christian Lacroix Attire

Calaveras is a badass character who is the second-eldest sister of the Spectre Sisters. She is also a member of the Black Moon Clan. Being the remarkable character she is, Calaveras deserves nothing less than an exquisite outfit that fits her personality completely. Her outfit is inspired by one of the most iconic golden Christian Lacroix outfits. This exact look appeared in their Fall Winter Collection from 1992. The outfit included armor like the golden corset and a notable golden bow at the back of the head. Consequently, this dress stunned the audience, especially as it was so powerful and strong.

It makes perfect sense why Takeuchi used it for a strong character like Calaveras. The corset, bow, and golden accessories on her hand stayed exactly the same. She even ensured the gold earrings and bold necklace remained exact. However, to give it her own touch, she further added a short red skirt and the downward half-moon, which was the signature of the Black Moon Clan. All eminentattire details earned her the title of one of the most stylish sisters.

Anyone who has read the manga or is obsessed with Sailor Moon fashion would remember this mesmerizing look! This was Setsuna Meiou, also known as Sailor Pluto’s unique look as she came in this gold and gems-heavy attire, which emulated her fashionista moment. Fans were quick to see the inspiration from the forever-iconic Chanel Fall-Winter collection from 1992. It was an elegant short black dress with a gold chain covering the entire thing. Nonetheless, it was a show-stopper. Despite being a simple black dress, the golden strings of chains brought it to life, and the beautiful gold necklace with brooches made it look majestic.

Since the dress is just too breathtaking in itself, Takeuchi made only minor changes to this one. Almost everything, from the black dress to strings of chains, stayed the same. Even the necklace was the same. The only little detail she added was Setsuna’s distinctive Garnet stone, which she cleverly added to the broach in the necklace and body jewelry. She so cleverly did it that it felt like there weren’t any modifications to the dress, as she only replaced the stone. To this day, the Chanel dress stays engraved in viewers’ minds due to its attention to detail and how glorious it looked illustrated, just like it did on the runway.

3 The Stunning YSL Ad

This is yet another forever remembered attire of Black Lady, for which Naoko Takeuchi had been inspired by Yves Saint Laurent’s 1991 perfume commercial with Kate Moss. The dress’s darker hues and scandalous side slit were left completely intact by Takeuchi, but she made changes to the bust area. Takeuchi replaced it with plain straps and a see-through undershirt with long sleeves. However, she added a choker to tie the look together to stay more true to the inspiration. Being a true fashion enthusiast herself, the Sailor Moon author remade the iconic YSL advertisement in her artwork in which Black Lady takes the position of a model and does the famous Kate Moss pose and wears the iconic costume that fans from all over the world have been cosplaying for literally more than 20 years.

2 Forever Fans’ Favorite Mugler Bodysuit

While everyone in the show had an amazing sense of fashion, something about Koan made her look like she came straight out of a runway modeling show. Koan was the youngest and perhaps most ambitious of the Spectre Sisters, which is something that radiated from her outfit as well. As a result, Takeuchi adopted what is arguably one of Mugler’s most recognizable ensembles from the Fall/Winter 1992 collection. From the floppy, feathered tutu to the see-through bodysuit, which has vein-like stitching, Koan precisely recreated every little element of the original Mugler design. She also retained the model’s forehead gem brooch and pointed space buns’ hairstyle from the runway. Everything was so detailed and intricate, whether it was the feathery tutu or the forehead broach, making it one of the best outfits on the show, according to all fans.

1 Legendary Dior Gown

Serenity is the daughter of Queen Serenity and a princess of the Silver Millennium. She is dressed in a white flowy gown that is empire-waisted with gold accents and embellishments on the shoulders, and a bust detailed by gold beads rows. She also wears a beaded pearl-like bracelet around her wrist that showcases her delicate but luxurious features. This dress was first displayed as “Il Palladio” on the Christian Dior runway for the 1992 Spring-Summer collection. The dress itself took inspiration from Ancient Greek architecture. This feels perfectly fitting for Serenity as elements of her personality are drawn from Greek Mythology. For instance, her name comes from the word Selene, someone who was a goddess of the moon in Greek mythology. However, to add her own little touch, Takeuchi gave the dress a second skirt along with a large, flowing bow at the back.
