Ryan Reynolds is one of those actors who can seemingly do no wrong. His bounding on-screen enthusiasm for everything he does has endeared him to millions of cinemagoers over years since his first leading big screen role in National Lampoon’s Van Wilder. As per Deadline, the Canadian is now set to be honored next month with “The People’s Icon” award at this year’s People’s Choice Awards. In addition to this, Reynolds could be in for a huge night of success as he is also nominated in the Comedy Movie Star and Male Movie Star categories for his appearance in Netflix movie The Adam Project.

Reynolds has had quite a time over the last few years, having seen his various business ventures flourishing, becoming owner of a U.K. football club, releasing a number of highly praised movies such as Free Guy and The Adam Project, and seeing Deadpool 3 set out its stall as the first R-rated movie to hit the MCU with Hugh Jackman in tow no less. Receiving “The People’s Icon” award will seal of his year nicely at the beginning of December. Cassandra Tryon, the Senior Vice President of Entertainment Live Events at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming commented:

MOVIEWEB VIDEO OF THE DAY

“In any endeavor – whether it’s acting, producing, marketing or business – Ryan Reynolds has the unique ability to create joy and authentically connect with his audience. He’s received many accolades over the years, but it’s these innate qualities that makes him so beloved. We cannot wait to present Ryan with ‘The People’s Icon’ award at this year’s show.”

What Is Ryan Reynolds’ Next Movie?

     Apple TV+

After spending his last few movies on Netflix and Disney+, Ryan Reynolds will next move over to Apple TV+, where he will star in the musical reworking of A Christmas Carol with Will Ferrell and Octavia Spencer, Spirited. While the movie was originally described as a new take on the classic Dickens story, the newly released trailer revealed that it will not be exactly as it first seemed but instead will put a completely new spin of the story of a bunch of ghosts who through time have continued to make people see the error of their ways. You can see the trailer for Spirited below.

There is no way to deny that Reynolds has a way of connecting with audiences in a way that many actors only dream of, and for many studios that immediately leads to thoughts of big box office results and the breaking of streaming records. Along with a number of other projects, all eyes will soon be on the return of Deadpool in the MCU, which has been made even more interesting for bringing Hugh Jackman back to his role as Wolverine for one final time…again. While that movie is yet to start filming and will not hit theaters until 2024, the film is sure to break records when it debuts and give Reynolds yet another round of accolades in the process.

The People’s Choice Awards will air on NBC and E! on December 6 at 9:00PM ET/PT.
