Ryan Reynolds is ready to sing his way to the Academy Awards with Spirited. The popular actor has become an icon thanks to his interpretation of Wade Wilson in the live-action adaptation of Deadpool, that soon will be joining the MCU for the first time. But not everything is about the Marvel character for Reynolds, who in the last months of 2022 surprised the world by starring in the Apple TV+ original musical movie, Spirited.

The film, an adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol, aired on Nov. 11 on the platform, giving Ryan and his co-stars Will Ferrell and Viola Davis a chance to shine as singers and dancers. Spirited wasn’t exactly a Christmas classic with the likes of Home Alone or A Christmas Story, so Reynolds knows it won’t be part of the award season, but it could still have one chance in one category.

While speaking to Variety, the actor revealed what he would do if the song “Good Afternoon” from Spirited got nominated for an Oscar:

“Good Afternoon” was written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who also expressed their desire to see Ryan and Will performing it for the whole world at the show:

“I’m not thinking about that. Look, if this song is nominated for an Academy Award, I would say that the least I can do is show up on that stage and embarrass myself”.

“Seeing them on stage would be so much fun”.

Ryan Reynolds is Gearing up for Deadpool 3

A few months ago, Deadpool and Marvel fans received some fantastic news from Reynolds, announcing that the long-awaited third movie of the franchise would premiere in 2024. But that was not it; joining the actor in its announcement was Hugh Jackman, who will reprise his role of Wolverine in the movie.

Reynolds and Jackman will be performing their iconic characters inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s canon for the first time, which will be a game changer for Marvel Studios considering the tone of Deadpool movies, which have been an enormous success for 20th Century Studios, now a part of Disney conglomerate.

No official synopsis has been released for Deadpool 3. Still, according to Hugh himself, the movie will involve some time traveling because the story told in Logan (2017) won’t be modified. The only thing certain is that the chemistry between the actors, who have been friends for a long time, will be the center of the show.

Deadpool 3 is slated to arrive in theaters on Nov. 8, 2024.
