During the D23 panel “Studio Showcase, Day 2: Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century Fox” panel, Black Panther and Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever writer and director Ryan Coogler took to the stage to share an exclusive clip from the highly anticipated upcoming sequel. Coogler revealed he is currently hard at work in the cutting room on the final cut of Black Panther 2, which will be the final entry in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The clip showed a scene in which Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett) attends a United Nations hearing with many leaders from the rest of the world. She addresses Wakanda’s unwillingness to share Vibranium, their most precious resource, with the rest of the world. Ramonda cites the dangerous potential of the precious and versatile resource and the dangerous potential of the world leaders who wish to access it when challenged on this decision. Then, Ramonda addressed the rumors that the Black Panther, King T’Challa, had died.

Along with Bassett, Letitia Wright, who plays Ramonda’s daughter Shuri, Winston Duke, who plays M’Baku, leader of the Wakandan Jabari Tribe, and Tenoch Huerta, who plays King Namor the Sub-Mariner, joined him.

Bassett told MCU Head Boss in Charge Kevin Feige that returning to Wakanda was “an amazing experience” and said that the late Chadwick was with them “every step of the way.”

Duke said he is “excited for everyone to see what’s happening in Wakanda after Infinity Wars and after the Endgame.” He explained, “after everything that’s happened so far, everything has changed, everything is bigger, everything better, and everything is new.”

Duke noted that while he doesn’t play the most technologically inclined character, the “tech is fun, the tech is different, the tech is like nothing you’ve seen.” Meanwhile, Wright explained that the part of Black Panther 2 about which she was most excited was “you guys seeing the beautiful story that Mr. Ryan Coogler put his heart and soul into; how, like Winston said, the Wakanda family has expanded.”

Wright continued, “We have so many great new characters attached to this franchise and to the story. I’m so excited about how impactful this story will be for you guys to experience on November 11th.”

Black Panther 2 is scheduled to be released in theaters on November 11th, 2022.
