Avengers: Secret Wars is going to be a massive production that will rival or maybe surpass the bar set by Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Based on the Secret Wars storyline of Marvel Comics, the project will feature a collision of several multiversal characters and plotlines into one final warfare against the antagonist, who could be Doctor Doom or Beyonder. And to make sure that the film is at par with expectations, the studio is taking ample time to build up a suitable script and find the right director for the film.
While Marvel decides on a director for Secret Wars, fans have begun rallying for Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever director Ryan Coogler to helm Secret Wars. But turns out Ryan Coogler isn’t aware of any such campaigns and confirmed he hasn’t heard anything from Marvel Studios about the mega project.

In his conversation with Aaron Perine of ComicBook.com, Coogler dismissed rumors about him getting on the director’s chair for Secret Wars or any other MCU project. Upon being told that the fans wished for him to direct Secret Wars, he said:
Perine also teased if Coogler is instead taking on Black Panther 3 after this, but the director was quick to dismiss the question as well.
Say what now? Bro, I ain’t heard nothing about that man, I’m trying to finish this one!
We don’t know what Coogler is set to direct next, but he is not departing MCU anytime sooner. He is going to executive produce the upcoming Disney+ original Ironheart starring Dominique Thorne as the titular character. And he is also involved in developing the Untitled Wakanda Series set in the franchise, There is a possibility that the studio does bring him on board for Secret Wars but it’s not sealed in ink yet.
I got no answers for you. Yeah, no, I try to finish what I’m doing, and then think about what’s next.
Avengers: Secret Wars Has A Writer Though
Marvel StudiosDisney
Avengers: Secret Wars have found its writer in Michael Waldron. Waldron is famous for writing the series Loki. He was then picked up to write Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Waldron, after penning two essential projects of the Multiverse Saga, has gained a good reputation and has a considerate understanding of where the franchise is heading.
Given that he has written two projects that directly deal with the consequences of the multiverse, he seems like the right choice to pen the script for Secret Wars. Besides, the film’s predecessor, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, already has Destin Daniel Cretton in the director’s chair while Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania writer Jeff Loveness is writing that movie. Soon, the final Avengers movie will also have a director. Russo Brothers have previously claimed their love for the storyline, but they have also dismissed rumors about them taking on the project.
Avengers: Secret Wars is set to release on May 1, 2026. The film was earlier slated to release in November 2025 but was later pushed back by six months. The film will be the final part of MCU Phase Six and the Multiverse Saga.
