Roswell, New Mexico, has spent much of its time circling the supernatural world or aliens. But, when it was not focusing on the supernatural or scientific elements of the series, Roswell, New Mexico, had plenty of romances going around over four seasons. As the series came to an end, audiences finally got confirmed answers about where their favorite couples ended up. Although Max and Liz were at the heart of the show’s central love story, they were not the only ones with a constant romance. Michael and Alex also dealt with plenty of obstacles on their way to happiness.

The series finale of Roswell, New Mexico, dealt with Clyde’s ambition to return to Oasis. However, plenty of romantic plot lines had also been dealt with in the show’s final episodes. Max and Liz’s happy ending seemed inevitable, even with all the obstacles that got in their way. But how did their relationship conclude? Michael also went on quite an emotional journey with Alex, especially when Michael discovered Alex was missing. Although Kyle and Isobel’s growing romance took some time to reach, they also survived the conflicts that were thrown in their way. Each couple had struggles to get through before reaching a content ending.

3 Kyle And Isobel

For most of the final season, Kyle and Isobel’s romance appears more one-sided as Kyle silently wishes for Isobel to reciprocate his feelings. At the same time, she dives deeper into her relationship with Anatsa. However, after Isobel and Anatsa break up, when Anatsa grows tired of Isobel’s lies, Isobel and Kyle grow closer after sleeping together in Mexico. Afterward, Isobel knows the truth about Kyle’s feelings, and the two try to figure out where they stand after Isobel initially rejects him.

But, they never allow that to bring negative feelings toward their friendship. Instead, while things may be slightly awkward, they power through, even after Isobel realizes she does reciprocate Kyle’s feelings. In the end, Kyle and Isobel are granted their happy ending, getting together right before the series finale. Their central moment in the final episode has them contently sitting together. Kyle and Isobel’s relationship may have held a will-they-won’t-they element, but they lacked the conflicts surrounding constantly breaking up and getting back together. While it may have taken pushes from their closest friends to get them to finally act on their mutual feelings, rather than hiding behind returning to their friendship, things work out well for the duo in the end.

2 Max And Liz

One of the reasons Max and Liz’s ending is so significant is because it took the entire length of the series to get there. Liz and Max have gone back and forth between being together and apart, so the series concludes with them looking forward to the same future is a big step for them. They have each developed since they knew each other in high school and even since their reunion in the first episode. Liz and Max have been at odds very often as the circumstances in their lives drew them apart or together. While season four sees some of that tension, especially after Max gives away his powers, they seem to be on the same page for the most part. Max and Liz know they want a future together, even if the timing of committing to that future is one of the season’s initial uncertainties.

Even though different planets separate Max and Liz in the final minutes of the series finale, Max makes it seem like it will be a temporary separation, and he has every intention of returning to Earth. Liz choosing to propose is also a big step for her after struggling with the uncertainty of what may come next for them and their friends.

1 Michael And Alex

As the only central romance to end with a wedding, Michael and Alex get the best and happiest ending of the series. Michael and Alex’s wedding had been a long-time coming, but the final season begins with the duo taking a massive next step in their relationship by moving in together. When Michael discovers Alex has gone missing, he is insistent on searching for him and is betrayed that his closest friends kept it a secret from him. Their reunion results in their engagement. Although Alex wants to marry Michael in Theo’s portal world, uncertain if he will survive much longer, Michael wants to see Alex live longer and tries to ensure it by searching for a way out. When they eventually make it out, Michael and Alex finally have their wedding surrounded by those closest to them.

Michael and Alex’s ending is also proof of Michael’s development as someone who had once feared being happy and seemed to venture toward self-sabotage. Choosing to be with Alex on Earth, with the family and life they created, is the home Michael had been searching for, and it becomes a higher priority than Oasis, which Michael had desired to see for years.
