Robert Pattinson became a big name after starring with Kristen Stewart in the Twilight Saga, playing the beloved vampire Edward Cullen. But, since then, the actor has played some fascinating characters in many types of movies, earning some recognition, especially after his transformation into the newest version of Bruce Wayne in The Batman.

With titles such as The Lighthouse (2019) and Good Time (2016) to validate his acting skills, Pattinson is preparing to work with one the most influential directors nowadays: Academy-Award winner Bong Joon-Ho on his next film, Mickey 17. And, from what the actor told ES Magazine, it is very different from anything he’s done before:

Mickey 17 is based on the dystopian novel by Edward Ashton, and Robert plays two versions of himself (both clones) who team up to work together. The movie is being shot in Bedford, where the actor is staying in a little hotel near an airport hangar where the set is built. Joining Pattinson are Mark Ruffalo, Toni Collette, Naomi Ackie, and Steven Yeun, a familiar face for the Parasite director.

“It’s with Parasite director Bong Joon-ho and it’s like nothing I’ve ever done before. The movie is so crazy, it’s a completely different style of working. It’s so much talking.”

When Will Robert Pattinson Return as Batman?

     Warner Bros. Pictures

Although no official date has been announced for The Batman’s sequel, Matt Reeves has revealed that he’s working on the script to bring Robert Pattinson’s version of the Cape Crusader back to the screen in the near future. The movie is moving along despite the Warner-Discovery crisis, which is bringing a new DCU canon in which, once again, Reeves’ interpretation of The Dark Knight won’t be included.

This project, such as Joker 2, will stay as independent stories as they were conceived. The Batman will build its own universe that’s already working on its first official spin-off, The Penguin, an HBO Max original series that will have Colin Farrell reprising his role as Gotham City’s villain, connecting directly with the sequel.

As the script is being written, there’s not much information available on The Batman 2, which could include Barry Keoghan’s Joker, who appeared in the last minutes of the first movie interacting with Paul Dano’s Riddler. But the film could easily avoid using the character and introducing a new bad guy from the extensive gallery of villains that Batman has to offer.
