Actor Sam Worthington has finally opened up about his experience on the sets of the Avatar sequel, now titled, Avatar: The Way of Water. Worthington played the lead role of Jake Sully, a disabled former Marine chosen for the Avatar Program, in the first movie. Though his mission is to get initiated with the resident Na’vi tribe and pass on information to his superiors, he later has a change of heart and sides with the tribe when the humans plan on to graze their sacred forest....

The first season of the HBO Max series The Flight Attendant gained a lot of praise, including Emmy nominations, and a second season was always going to be greenlit. A new major piece of casting for the series has revealed that Kaley Cuoco will be joined in the second season by Hollywood icon Sharon Stone, who will be playing her mother. While The Flight Attendant detailed the relationship between Cuoco’s character Cassie Bowden and her deceased father, her mother only appeared in a tiny flashback scene....

The Spiderwick Chronicles, a popular book series turned film franchise, has recently added Jack Dylan Grazer to the cast. Grazer is best known for his role as Freddy Freeman in the DC film Shazam!. He reprised the role in the sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, set to be released in 2023. In addition to his work in film and television, Grazer also had notable roles in the television series It and We Are Who We Are....

The Punisher and The Walking Dead star Jon Bernthal has just landed his next starring role in a television series, as the actor is set to become our next American Gigolo. This week, Showtime gave an official pilot order for an American Gigolo drama series inspired by the 1980 movie starring Richard Gere and Lauren Hutton. Described as a modern-day reimagining of the movie, Bernthal will be taking over Gere’s role as Julian Kaye, following the American Gigolo story as it may play out had it taken place in 2020 rather than 40 years ago....

Saturday Night Live took aim at Avatar: The Way of Water in the newest episode on Saturday night. Since its release in movie theaters, the Avatar sequel has already achieved immense success, rising up high as one of the highest-grossing movies of all times after a matter of weeks. SNL’s new parody features guest host Aubrey Plaza joining the cast to imagine a new take on the tribe. You can watch the video below, via SNL on YouTube....

A story increasingly applicable to the society we live in, Snowpiercer was originally a film by Bong Joon-ho which became a beloved cult classic to some but not very well-known, only grossing about $80 million. The film is an imaginative, unique, exciting, and star-studded, but sadly did not do as well in the U.S. market as had been planned. However, in 2020, Snowpiercer made a surprising return in the form of a show, again with a star-studded and even bigger cast....

Sony announced just days ago that Rhys Ifans will portray the villain in the upcoming Untitled Spider-Man Reboot. The Wrap now reports that the main villain will, in fact, be The Lizard. There were originally rumors that Venom would be the villain in Marc Webb’s upcoming Marvel Comics adaptation, although The Wrap is reporting that Venom will not appear in the Untitled Spider-Man Reboot at all. We reported back in June that The Lizard would, in fact, be the main nemesis....

During the ‘Hasbro Fall 2007 Analyst Event’, the company’s COO spoke about their partnership with Lucasfilm involving the upcoming Clone Wars TV Series: “…the additional big news here is that Star Wars Cinemation is scheduled to launch on 8-08-08 as a theatrical release. When the Castle Rock Season 2 trailer arrived with the ominous words “It all ends here,” worried fans of the brilliant adaptation of Stephen King’s works were calmed by the showrunners that the “end” doesn’t mean that the series has reached its conclusion. But looks like that unknowingly, the second season’s tagline was predicting the future as Hulu has cancelled Castle Rocks after its successful run of two seasons. Castle Rock is the latest series to join Hulu’s cancellation spree which has already claimed another King-focused series 11....

With just one season left of Stranger Things to go before the hit Netflix show ends its run, series star Caleb McLaughlin has been thinking about the kinds of roles that might be coming next. From the start of its run in 2016, McLaughlin has portrayed Lucas Sinclair, one of the show’s main characters. He has also appeared in movies like High Flying Bird and Concrete Cowboy and has been doing voiceover work for animated shows like Summer Camp Island, Ultra City Smiths, and The Boys Presents: Diabolical....

Despite Hollywood having come a long way when it comes to representation of minority groups, the racism that many Black and Asian actors are subjected to is almost becoming something that is normal by the way it is expected by actors taking on certain roles. One star who was perhaps not prepared to face such a backlash was Stranger Things star Caleb McLaughlin, who recently recounted his experiences from early in his role and how they took a toll on him....

WHILE DVD SALES SLUMP, NETFLIX RENTALS SOAR It could be the recession. Or it could be that DVD buyers are looking at their collection and coming to the realization that few of those discs are coming off their shelves after being viewed once. Whatever the reason, DVD sales are down 13.5 percent for the first half of the year, while rentals are surging. Netflix said Thursday that its overall revenue had risen 21 percent to $408....

SCOTUS RULING GREETED WITH PRAISE, EXPLETIVES The Supreme Court’s ruling on Tuesday that the Federal Communications Commission was within its rights to levy fines against broadcasters who broadcast “fleeting expletives” will likely have little effect until the courts rule on whether the law barring such utterances – and other “indecent” material – on the air is constitutional, several analysts observed Tuesday. “We are almost certainly destined for another few years of this legal battle,” commented CBS News’s chief legal analyst Andrew Cohen, who noted that “if the Court’s makeup remains the same for the next few years” it will most likely rule similarly on the broader constitutional issue....

TNT has forged a solid reputation for dependable dramatic programming over the past few years, and, although they have some of the biggest shows on cable TV right now, with The Closer, Saving Grace, Raising the Bar and one of my personal favorites, Leverage, there is always room for one more hit on the slate. It looks like TNT will have that additional hit series when Hawthorne, which stars Jada Pinkett Smith as Chief Nursing Officer Christina Hawthorne and Michael Vartan as Chief of Surgery Tom Wakefield, premieres on Tuesday, June 16 at 9 PM ET on TNT (CLICK HERE for my full review of the pilot episode, which was pretty damn good, folks)....

Actor and stuntman Ted White, best known to horror fans for playing Jason Voorhees in the fan favorite horror sequel Friday the 13th Part 4: The Final Chapter, has passed away. Horror documentarian Sean Clark made the announcement on social media, noting that White died peacefully in his sleep at his home. He was 96 years old. “I’ve had the pleasure of knowing him and working with him for close to 20 years,” Clark said in his social media post....

With ongoing wars and an increasingly drastic refugee crisis, there are more than 100 million people without shelter of any kind globally, and the exact figure is likely much higher. Despite being one of the most dominating and powerful countries on the planet, the United States currently has an estimated half a million people living without shelter. Since roughly the 1980s, American cinema has depicted the heartbreaking shortcomings of our society, showcasing the struggles so many individuals go through just to survive and make ends meet....
