Roseanne Barr blames former co-star Sara Gilbert for the cancellation of the Roseanne revival series. 10 months ago, Barr sent off a racist tweet about former Barack Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett, which she later blamed on a sleeping medication. In the tweet, the comedian said, “Muslim brotherhood and Planet of the Apes had a baby = VJ.” The social media message quickly went viral, much to the horror of ABC and Barr’s co-stars on the highly successful revival series....

The Good A funny show that tries to be current. The Bad Nothing about this situation comedy really felt that unique. Only 7 episodes. Adam, Jennifer, Jeff and Audrey are friends and couples who are at various stages of the life spectrum. Adam and Jennifer are getting ready to tie the knot, while Jeff and Audrey have have been tied to one another for some time. Thrown into this mix is their single friend Russell who seems to somehow end up getting the other males on this show into trouble....

Way back in 2006, it was reported that a long lost project from the late director Stanley Kubrick was being shepherded by his son-in-law and now it seems the project is starting to move forward. Production Weekly is reporting that Iron Man 2 stars Scarlett Johansson and Sam Rockwell have signed on to star in Lunatic at Large. Stephen Clarke wrote the script based off a treatment from novelist Jim Thompson and filmmaker Stanley Kubrick, which was thought to be lost when it was found by Kubrick’s son-in-law, Philip Hobbs, who is also an archivist, after Kubrick’s death....

The Weinstein Company today announced that Dimension Films’ Scary Movie 4 opened number one in North America grossing over $41 million, becoming the highest grossing Easter weekend opening ever and giving the film the largest opening for a film released by The Weinstein Company. The announcement was made today by Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company. The film was co-produced by The Weinstein Company and Miramax Films. The previous record holder for Easter Weekend was Panic Room, which brought in $31 million when its opened in 2002....

SCI FI has renewed its Peabody-winning signature series Battlestar Galactica. The Channel will bring the critically-acclaimed series back for a minimum of 13 hours. Production will resume this summer with an eye toward a January 2008 premiere. The decision comes after the series’ incredibly successful move to Sunday nights. Since moving to its Sunday night (10pm) slot last month, Battlestar Galactica’s audience has grown in Total Viewers (+8%), Female Viewers (+double digits across every female demo) and in the show’s Target Demos of Adults 18-49 (+19%) and Adults 25-54 (+14%), versus the season 3....

Sean Astin, Giovanni Ribisi, Ron Perlman and Anjelica Huston have joined the CGI-animated Spirit of the Forest, an eco-fairy tale for Fantastic Films International and Dygra Films. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Astin and Ribisi play two gopher friends whose home is threatened when an evil businesswoman (Huston) plans to tear down their forest to build a highway. With the help of an old oak tree (Perlman), the animals and their friends fight back with a vengeance....

The movie stars Zachary Levi as the titular character, and many original cast members, such as Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, and Djimon Hounsou, will reprise their roles. Organized by the nonprofit Omaze, the winner will be chosen by way of a random drawing. The latest installment in the hugely successful Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man: No Way Home, can’t stop, won’t stop breaking records, with the sequel now holding the title for highest-rated movie in terms of audience rating on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes. Taking to Twitter to celebrate the beloved web-slinger’s latest achievement, Spider-Man: No Way Home currently sits at a 99% audience approval rating with more than 25,000 verified reviews. “With a 99% Audience Score #SpiderManNoWayHome is currently our highest rated movie with a minimum of 20k Verified Audience Ratings,” the website said of the overwhelmingly positive response to Marvel’s latest adventure....

Bethesda Softworks announced that the highly anticipated strategy/action game, Star Trek: Legacy for the Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system from Microsoft is shipping to North American retail stores. Star Wars is a long-running sci-fi franchise with many films, TV series, and video games to back it up. Beginning the franchise with Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope in 1977, the film was expected to be a stand-alone film and was originally just marketed as Star Wars. But thanks to the extreme success of A New Hope, George Lucas expanded the film and created the Original Trilogy. The trilogy’s popularity led to a Prequel Trilogy being made from 1999 to 2005 and an eventual Sequel Trilogy from 2015 to 2019....

There’s no doubt that ever since the first Star Wars movie released in 1977, Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope, the franchise has taken over popular culture. Not only did it continue on for three trilogies in episodes one through nine, but has also spawned several other movies and TV shows, with a lot more already planned. It seems like the Star Wars universe will never end, and even if it does, it will surely remain a staple in popular culture for a long time....

Disney’s latest animated offering, Strange World, arrived in cinemas over the Thanksgiving weekend and ironically became one of their biggest turkeys in terms of box office success. The film was expected to pull in a similar amount of money to last year’s Encanto, which was by no means a runaway hit but did become huge once it arrived on Disney+ during the festive period. According to Strange World star Gabrielle Union, the movie’s poor performance is due to the Covid pandemic having accustomed people to watching things in the comfort of their own home....
