That’s a wrap on Strange Way of Life. A gay Western short that has drawn some comparisons to Brokeback Mountain, the Pedro Almodóvar-directed movie stars Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal telling the love story between two gunslingers in the wild west. Hawke has shared an image on Instagram from the set to reveal that filming has officially been wrapped on the project, providing a sneak peek at himself alongside Pascal in the film....

COURIC SAYS SHE’LL “START A NEW CHAPTER"Ending a spate of media speculation rivaled only by rumors over some pop stars’ impending marriage or divorce, Katie Couric announced on NBC’s Todayshow today that she will be leaving to become the anchor of the CBS Evening News. On an edition of Todaythat marked Couric’s 15th anniversary with the show, she told the audience that “after listening to my heart and my gut, two things that have served me pretty well in the past” she had decided to leave at the end of May....

DISNEY RAISES WORLD’S BIGGEST TRIAL BALLOON(S) Disney/Pixar went all out at Cannes Wednesday to produce an elaborate PR stunt that would gain attention from the hundreds of journalists and photographers of all media stripes attending the festival. On a pier across from the elegant Carlton Hotel, studio workers tethered an enormous cluster of balloons, almost identical to the one created digitally for their new movie, Up. (It was impossible to tell whether thousands of small balloons had been bundled together or whether an outsized helium balloon was being concealed by hundreds of smaller ones....

ZAENTZ RINGS IN JACKSON FOR PREQUELS As Lord of the Ringsfans mounted a protest following word that New Line had dropped Peter Jackson from consideration as director of The Hobbitand another Lord of the Ringsprequel, producer Saul Zaentz has given assurances that Jackson will indeed direct the two films. A German website, Elbenwald.de, posted an interview with Zaentz, who acquired the rights to the works of the late Ringswriter, J.R.R. Tolkien, in 1976 (the Saul Zaentz Company owns Tolkien Enterprises), in which Zaentz says, “It will definitely be shot by Peter Jackson....

Sylvester Stallone is gearing up to remake the classic 1974 Charles Bronson film Death Wish. According to Variety, he wants to both star in and direct the film. The plot revolves around an ordinary guy who takes the law into his own hands after muggers attack his wife and daughter. No word on whether Jeff Goldblum will be reprising his role as one of the muggers. Michael Ferris and John Brancato are writing this updated remake for MGM....

Rick and Morty fans rejoice, as McDonald’s seems to be bringing the legendary Szechuan Sauce back soon for a limited time. In a new image posted to the fast food company’s official Facebook page, a hand holding a chicken nugget can be seen reaching through a Rick and Morty-like green portal with the McNugget coated with a familiar brown sauce. “Coming soon, the best sauce in the universe,” the caption reads, suggesting the rare sauce popularized by Rick and Morty will soon be available in McDonald’s locations....

Turner Classic Movies(TCM) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art (the Met) are teaming up for Follow the Thread, a limited series exploring the synergy between fashion and film. It is inspired by the Met’s new exhibition, In America: An Anthology of Fashion, which launched earlier this month and will run through September 5. It premieres on TCM on June 4 and HBO Max on June 17. In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, TCM’s General Manager Pola Chagnon discusses how the series came about....

That ’70s Show was a sitcom revolving around Eric Forman (Topher Grace) and his friends as they navigate the late-70s as teens in small-town Point Place Wisconsin. The series is full of 70s references and features a number of guests, including Shirley Jones who was the head of The Partridge Family. Despite the fact that the show is set in the 70s, the majority of the stories within the series are timeless, showing teen troubles while also giving us the unique antics of Red and Kitty....

Sony Pictures must like what they’ve been seeing from The Amazing Spider-Man set, where the film is still shooting in Los Angeles. Because the studio has hired original The Amazing Spider-Man writer James Vanderbilt to pen the impending sequel. James Vanderbilt wrote the original draft of The Amazing Spider-Man when Sony decided to scrap Spider-man 4 and reboot the series from scratch. He was working on Spider-Man 4 at the time this decision happened....

Activision has released a teaser trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man, which will be available next summer and will serve as an epilogue to the upcoming superhero reboot. It is interesting to watch now, knowing that Tyler Durden was wrong and Jared Leto really became a rock star, a movie star, and a millionaire too....

Another popular podcast is getting turned into a TV series in the form of The Black Tapes. NBC is currently in development on a small screen adaptation of the very popular podcast, which initially debuted in 2015. The show’s creators Paul Bae and Terry Miles are directly involved in the adaptation, alongside Matthew Arnold, co-creator of the series Emerald City, which aired for just a single season, also on NBC....

One of the more interesting debates of today with fans of The Boys is whether Homelander could match up with Superman. The comparisons are natural, as Homelander serves as a parody of the Man of Steel, carrying over many of the very same superpowers. Of course, the biggest difference is that Superman uses his powers for good while Homelander is a complete sociopath who constantly seems like he’s on the verge of decimating the entire planet....
