A new, hugely dramatic TV spot for Marvel’s upcoming sequel, Spider-Man: No Way Home, has dropped, teasing the multiversal spectacle and the relationship between Tom Holland’s Peter Parker and Zendaya’s MJ, both of which will be central to the highly anticipated MCU outing. The excitement for Spider-Man: No Way Home is palpable, with the footage offering further looks at the procession of variant villains who will break through to the MCU, including Doctor Octopus, Electro, and The Lizard....

Blu-ray seems to be really gaining steam in the format war. Sony today unveiled its second Blu-ray Disc(TM) (BD) player, bringing the movie theater experience home for videophiles and movie buffs alike. Following the success of the company’s first player, the newest unit is expected to broaden the market with a price of around $600, a new design, advanced audio codecs, BRAVIA(TM) Theater Sync, and CD playback. “We plan to continue leading the Blu-ray Disc charge with products for the home that exceed consumer expectations and fulfill Sony’s vision for an HD world,” said Jeff Goldstein, vice president of marketing for Sony Electronics’ Home Products Division....

Another children’s classic is coming to the big screen, and he’s ready to sing! Earlier this week, Sony Pictures released the first trailer for Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile. The trailer can be viewed below. Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is based on the 1960’s children’s book series Lyle the Crocodile. The first book, The House on 88th Street, follows the Primm family as they move into a Victorian brownstone, only to discover there is already a very special resident inside their bathtub!...

Sony is getting ready to expand their Spider-Man Spin-Off universe to the small screen. Last year saw the studio release Venom in theaters, which turned out to be a much larger success than anyone expected it to be, at least from a financial standpoint. We know they were already developing further movies using the Spider-Man characters they own the rights to, but now we have word that they’re also looking to make TV shows based on some of these characters as well....

Actress Anna Kendrick made headlines earlier this summer when she revealed on Twitter that her brother thought she should play the quirky Marvel Comics character Squirrel Girl. Shortly thereafter, Stranger Things star Shannon Purser (Barb) expressed her desire to play Squirrel Girl on social media, and now it seems that Squirrel Girl may hit the small screen. A new report reveals that both Marvel Studios and ABC Studios are developing a New Warriors TV series....

With season two of one of the most exciting Star Trek shows to date around the corner, fans can expect nothing less than a wild, exciting ride with Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and company in Star Trek: Picard. UNIVISION SALE DOUBTFUL; SHARES FALL Shares in Univision continued their downward slide today (Monday) as investors questioned whether the sale of the Spanish broadcaster would ever take place. At midday trading,shares were down 3 percent to $32. They have fallen about 10 percent since last Tuesday, the deadline that had been set for bids to be received. Since then several investors have dropped out of the bidding process. However, today’s New York Times and the Wall Street Journalreported that the group led by Mexican broadcaster Televisa had reformed and submitted a new offer of $35....

TV NEWS FILM IGNITES NEW MUSLIM OUTRAGE Australian television news footage showing U.S. soldiers burning the bodies of two suspected Taliban militants has ignited another uproar in the Muslim world. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack told reporters Thursday that the footage, shown on Australia’s SBS network was “very troublesome.” He promised an investigation, “and if there is, in fact, wrongdoing that was found, then those who are responsible for that wrongdoing will be held to account....

Appearing for the first time together on each of the major networks’ morning programs to promote a Stand Up to Cancer telethon in September, Katie Couric, Charles Gibson, and Brian Williams defended themselves against claims in a new book by former White House spokesman Scott McClellan that they fell for administration propaganda in the lead-up to the invasion of Iraq. Author and comic book writer Ta-Nehisi Coates could be ready to turn in his script for a Superman reboot “soon.” According to reporter Jeff Sneider, there have been whispers that Coates is almost ready with a draft for his new take on the DC icon, with the project due to be produced by Star Trek and Star Wars director J.J. Abrams. Announced last year, not much is yet known about what Abrams and Ta-Nehisi Coates have in store for the Man of Steel, other than that it will feature a Black actor in the role of Superman....

Warner Bros. Television’s popular series Supernatural makes history this summer as Supernatural: The Anime Series is released in the United States as the first-ever live-action series to be re-imagined in Japanese anime style. The all-new, 22-episode animated series will be distributed July 26, 2011 by Warner Home Video on Blu-ray for $54.97 (SRP) and DVD for $49.98 (SRP), as well as On Demand and for Download. Order due date is June 21, 2011....

TÁR is a newly released film starring Cate Blanchett as the title character. Directed by Todd Field, the film follows the life, legacy, and downfall of EGOT-winning, ego-driven conductor-composer Lydia Tár. Since its premiere at Venice Film Festival, TÁR has been subject to near-universal praise, including a six-minute standing ovation (per Deadline), with many deeming Blanchett’s performance Oscar-worthy. Considering that the film has already taken home quite a few accolades, we can look forward to it have a long and successful awards season ahead....
