For the past two decades, Family Guy has pushed the boundaries of animated television. Focusing on the everyday (yet strange) middle class Griffin family from Quahog, Rhode Island, this series is known for its outrageous humor, some of the raunchiest in animation. Coming from the genius mind of Seth MacFarlane, who has been an animator since the early animation days of Johnny Bravo, we’ve come to know and love these characters in all their offensive glory....

Although the genre seldom goes out of fashion, fans of horror comedies have been particularly spoiled for choice of late, with Henry Selick’s animated film Wendell & Wild, indie found footage film Deadstream, and Netflix’s Addams Family spinoff series Wednesday all turning heads in the last few months. But Fantastic Four director Tim Story’s new film The Blackening offers a fresh look at the genre. While it is hardly unusual for horror comedy movies to go, shall we say, a little “meta,” the Scream franchise being a case in point, The Blackening takes the concept one step further....

Universal Pictures genre label Rogue has boarded Paul W.S. Anderson’s Dracula project Castlevania, a $50 million video game adaptation, according to Variety. Rogue will distribute the movie in North America and is also taking rights in the U.K., Spain and German-speaking territories. Crystal Sky Entertainment is handling sales for the rest of the world. Anderson’s script spans many time periods but mostly takes place in 15th century Transylvania. It reps a fresh take on the much-filmed Dracula legend, mining back to its genesis in the story of the Romanian prince Vlad the Impaler....

Ryan Reynolds has shared the concerns that troubled him while making the first Deadpool movie. Though Deadpool was a huge hit and gave Reynolds a life-changing opportunity in his career, his early stint with the character had kept him in doubt about the film. Deadpool wasn’t Ryan Reynolds’ first attempt at playing Marvel Comics character, Wade Wilson. Production began earlier today in Atlanta, Georgia on Scary Movie 5, The Weinstein Company’s latest installment in their spoof comedy franchise. The studio has brought back some alumnus from the series, with Simon Rex (Scary Movie 3) and Molly Shannon (Scary Movie 4) joining the cast. It isn’t known if they are reprising their previous roles, or taking on new characters. This time around, it seems they are poking fun at dance movies with the sequel....

Nickelodeon’s TV movie/musical Spectacular! doesn’t even premiere until Presidents Day, but the cable channel is already laying the groundwork for a possible sequel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Spectacular! writer James Krieg has been hired to pen a potential second installment, which would be directed by Robert Iscove, director of the upcoming original about a wannabe rock singer who joins the school choir. A green light for the project is still a ways away, but Nickelodeon is said to have high hopes about turning Spectacular!...
