The first trailer for Star Wars Resistance was released last week and, as is the case with anything Star Wars, the reactions were mixed. One of the burning questions about the upcoming animated show is where exactly it fits into the official timeline. It’s been clear since the beginning that the show takes place before the events of The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, but it has never been confirmed as to how far back the series goes....

One person who’s clearly not looking forward to the upcoming Blade reboot is actor Stephen Dorff, who plays a key role in the previous adaptation starring Wesley Snipes. In the first Blade movie, released by director Stephen Norrington and New Line Cinema in 1998, Dorff played the antagonist Deacon Frost. The film was a hit at the box office and drew great praise, having since been credited as opening the door for the Marvel movie boom that would be soon to come in subsequent years....

Jackass star Steve-O wants to see people move on from that controversial joke Amy Schumer told about Ryan Dunn more than ten years ago. Back in 2011, Schumer was still a rising star in the comedy world when she appeared as a roaster on The Comedy Central Roast of Charlie Sheen. One of the most talked about jokes that night came from Schumer, who used Dunn’s death to take a dig at Steve-O....

Early in season 4 of Stranger Things, some fans questioned the revelations about Vecna as the show’s big bad, wondering if the series was leaving nothing for its fifth and final season to reveal. However, it is clear that there is still plenty to be resolved, and with the final season set to be much shorter than its predecessor, things have probably worked out just right. With all the explaining done, the final season can concentrate on delivering an action-packed finale to Netflix’s biggest original series, and star Jamie Campbell Bower has revealed that Vecna will definitely be out for revenge....

HASTA LA VISTA, BUENA VISTA The Walt Disney Co. plans to do away with its remaining Buena Vista banners and replace them with the Disney name, Bloomberg News reported today (Thursday), citing people involved in the plans. The company’s distribution division and its home-video unit both bear the Buena Vista designation. Buena Vista Games has already become Disney Interactive Studios. Tuna Amobi, a New York-based analyst with Standard & Poor’s, told the wire service that few people associate the Buena Vista name with Disney....

UNIVERSAL MUSIC TO BATTLE SONY FILMS In what may have the markings of a Hollywood civil war, Vivendi’s Universal Music Group has filed copyright-infringement lawsuits against online video-sharing websites Grouper and Bolt. Both sites feature music videos, some of them pirated copies of UMG productions. In a statement, UMG said that the two websites “cannot reasonably expect to build their businesses on the backs of our content and the hard work of songwriters without permission and without in any way compensating the content creators....

COURIC – RESIGNED TO RESIGNATION? Amid increasing speculation about whether CBS plans to remove Katie Couric as anchor of the CBS Evening News, today’s (Friday) Los Angeles Timesis reporting that Couric herself is expressing discontent over the harder-edged form the newscast has taken. “The reality is, it’s not the newscast she came to do, and she’s disappointed,” a network source close to Couric told the newspaper. “But she’s one of those people who says, ‘This isn’t what I signed up for, but for right now, I’m in it 190 percent....

KIDS RULE ON FRIDAY NIGHT More viewers tuned in to a made-for-TV movie on the Disney Channel Friday than they did for any program on television – broadcast network outlets included, according to Nielsen Research. The ratings company said that The Cheetah Girls 2 drew 7.8 million total viewers, edging out Disney’s previous record holder, High School Musical, which drew 7.7 million viewers last January. As expected, the TV movie’s primary audience was young girls who tuned in in massive numbers....

RED LETTER(MAN) DAY FOR FEMINISTS Feminist groups have chimed in on the David Letterman scandal, with most of them demanding that CBS take some disciplinary action against the talk-show host. The National Organization for Women said that the scandal “sheds new light on the widespread objectification of women in the workplace.” Its statement concluded: “The National Organization for Women calls on CBS to recognize that Letterman’s behavior creates a toxic environment and to take action immediately to rectify this situation....

We are a little less than a month away from the premiere episode of Supergirl season 2, which will be airing on The CW instead of CBS this year. Fortunately a new batch of photos from the first two episodes of Supergirl season 2 have surfaced online to help tide us over until Kara Zor-El returns next month. They also show us a whole bunch of Kara’s much more famous cousin Superman, who will be joining her this season....

The CW Network has released the first poster for Season 10 of Supernatural, featuring Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles, Misha Collins and Mark Sheppard. The new season of Supernatural kicks off Tuesday, October 7 at 9 PM ET with the Season 10 Premiere, following the series premiere of The Flash. In addition, The CW is airing a Supernatural Retrospective special on Monday, October 6 at 9pm ET, following the premiere of The Originals....

Taron Egerton is currently winning praise for his lead role in Apple’s critically acclaimed prison thriller Black Bird, which also marks one of the final appearances of the late Ray Liotta. Egerton has now set his sights on another high-profile thriller, Carry On, to be directed by Spanish filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra (Black Adam, The Shallows, Orphan). Taron Egerton nor anyone else has been officially cast to play the new Wolverine, but the Kingsman star can’t help but be flattered and excited by the rumors of his involvement. Ever since Kevin Feige confirmed that the X-Men would be brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there’s been a lot of speculation of the potential casting. Wolverine, in particular, has been getting a lot of attention which has increased amid new rumors of the character appearing in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness....

Last week, we reported that Joss Whedon has been confirmed to write and direct The Avengers 2 for Marvel Studios. Today, Marvel’s parent company The Walt Disney Studios revealed the superhero sequel will hit theaters May 1, 2015. Take a look at the studio’s brief statement. Marvel’s The Avengers has taken in $617 million at the domestic box office, and over $1.4 billion worldwide. Marvel Studios will first roll out the stand-alone sequels Iron Man 3 (May 3, 2013), Thor: The Dark World (November 8, 2013), and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 4, 2014) before these Avengers will assemble once more....

A reboot of The Crow has been one of those projects that seems destined never to happen. The 1994 cult hit has been through several reboot attempts since plans were first floated back in 2008.
