GOOGLE SPURNS NEW VIACOM DEMAND Google has refused to provide Viacom with information about whether YouTube employees have uploaded clips of Viacom-owned movies or television shows to the online video service, according to CNET News. Google has said that it agreed to turn over information about viewing activity to Viacom, provided that it could be “anonymalized.” The website quoted sources as saying that if “Chad Hurley, one of YouTube’s co-founders, uploaded a copyright video or viewed them, Viacom’s lawyers believe they have a right to know about it....

IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD FOR JERICHO Armageddon has finally arrived for Jericho, the apocalyptic series that CBS had returned to its schedule following an outcry by vocal fans over its cancellation. The network said that it will air the series’ finale on Tuesday. Sony Pictures reportedly has big plans for the iconic character, Tarzan, after the studio picks up the screen rights to the literary and silver screen legend from Edgar Rice Burroughs’ estate, Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Sony is planning a complete overhaul of Tarzan, with their plans being described as a “total reinvention” of the character and the “intellectual property.” The studio is reportedly looking to bring the character of Tarzan to a place “for audiences in this time and space of the 21st century....
