Paramount’s latest foray into the animated side of Star Trek has added two actors with a solid sci-fi track record to its voice cast as the series villains. Star Trek: Prodigy has cast Fringe star John Noble and Westworld cast member Jimmi Simpson in the roles of The Diviner and Drednok respectively. The new series is not the first animated offering from the franchise, but unlike its predecessors, it is aimed at a younger audience in an attempt to bring a new generation into the 60 year old franchise....

The Mandalorian season three will soon begin streaming on Disney+. The other live-action Star Wars project of the year will be Ahsoka, featuring the fan-favorite Ahsoka Tano. After her debut in The Clone Wars, Ahsoka has become one of the most popular characters in the franchise and has made a larger impact for good in the galaxy than anyone else outside the Skywalker family. Following a character who transcends every era of the Star Wars universe and who appears in almost every title outside the movies, Ahsoka has the potential here to answer the many questions that have arisen from across the galaxy....

Starz has greenlit a second season of Party Down, its critically acclaimed half-hour comedy about a Los Angeles catering team - Hollywood wannabes stuck working for tips while hoping for their big break. Created and executive produced by Rob Thomas (Veronica Mars, Cupid) along with John Enbom, Paul Rudd and Dan Etheridge, the series has been touted as one of the funniest new shows of 2009. Called “a must-see” by USA Today, Party Down features a talented ensemble of actors, including Ken Marino as Ron Donald, the aggressively pious leader of the Party Down Catering company; Adam Scott as Henry Pollard, the one-time actor who has returned to the life of cater-waiter; Martin Starr as Roman DeBeers, the team’s self-proclaimed Sci Fi visionary and all-purpose intellectual; Ryan Hansen as Kyle Bradway, who’s an actor, model and front-man for an earnest alt-rock band when not working Hollywood parties; and Lizzy Caplan as Casey Klein, a pretty, smart, funny, and insecure comedienne who happens to make ends meet as a cater-waiter....

CBS is giving Stephen King fans a Christmas gift in the form of The Stand. The long-awaited adaptation, which was written and directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars, The New Mutants). The new miniseries will debut on CBS All Access on December 17. The series consists of eight episodes, which will drop once a week following the premiere every Thursday. The Stand remains one of Stephen King’s most cherished works....

Steven Spielberg’s upcoming movie The Fabelmans just announced its release date. The project will come to theaters close to Thanksgiving of next year. The Fabelmans, which is based on Spielberg’s childhood, is expected to come to cinemas on November 23, 2022. Universal Pictures and Amblin is creating the motion picture. There is a possibility for the film to be delayed. The movie could move its schedule if a big budget film changes its release date to be closer to the Steven Spielberg drama....

Paul Finch’s novel Stronghold is being adapted into a feature film by Amber Entertainment, in conjunction with the UK’s Rebellion Publishing. According to Variety, this medieval thriller which pits zombies against knights will be directed by Jason Kingsley. Tom Fickling will adapt the screenplay, which follows a group of Welsh rebels who rely on their druid magic to bring forth an army of the undead, thus using these reanimated corpses to fight off the tyranny of their English oppressors....

Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters camp it up in a humorous, but exceedingly violent B-movie gore-fest. Studio 666 has the global rock stars facing demonic possession in a haunted mansion. The film is loaded with vulgar language, bloody murder, and of course, shredding death metal music. I laughed much more than expected. Studio 666 never takes itself seriously. The biggest issue is the long run time. Thirty minutes could have easily been cut....

CREW MEMBERS PROTEST SAG STRIKE PLANS About a dozen film industry workers braved cold, rainy weather in front of the Kodak Theater in Hollywood Wednesday night to demonstrate against fellow workers, members of the Screen Actors Guild, who were holding an “educational” meeting regarding a strike authorization vote scheduled to take place on January 2. The demonstrators held signs reading, “Please No Strike Now – The Crew.” Members of the group said that they have already been hurt as production has slowed down as the stalemate between SAG and the studios has dragged on....

U.S. LAUNCHES PROBE OF MOORE’S TRIP TO CUBA Appearing to bestow on him the kind of free publicity that has made Michael Moore the best-known and best paid documentary filmmaker in the business, the U.S. Treasury Department has notified the filmmaker that it is conducting an investigation to determine whether he violated the U.S. trade embargo when he took a group of 9/11 rescue workers to Cuba for treatment. The Cuba journey is included in Moore’s upcoming documentary about the U....

HUMANS ESCAPE 2 THE MOVIES Hordes of humans stampeded the box office to welcome the weekend arrival of the animated animals in Paramount/DreamWorks Animation’s Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. They plunked down $63.11 million for tickets, an extraordinary figure, given the fact that a large proportion of that figure represented discounted children’s prices. The figure was well above analysts’ predictions and eclipsed the $43.2-million 3-day opening for the original Madagascarover the Memorial Day weekend in 2005....

A Teen Wolf reunion is officially happening during the upcoming second season of the CW’s Superman & Lois. Ian Bohen, who co-starred in the supernatural drama television series with Superman & Lois lead Tyler Hoechlin, was officially announced to be joining the Arrowverse in a behind-the-scenes video that was posted on Tyler Hoechlin’s Instagram page. It has been confirmed that Ian Bohen is set to star as Lt. Mitch Anderson in multiple episodes during the upcoming season....

The CW has released a brand new teaser trailer for Superman & Lois. This is the latest show joining the ArrowVerse family on the network. Even though it may or may not be called the ArrowVerse moving forward, now that Arrow has wrapped up its run. In any event, Tyler Hoechlin’s Superman is getting to headline a series alongside Elizabeth Tulloch’s Lois Lane. Body double-casting call details reported by Cosmic Circus show a call for a “Ted Body Double” for the movie, and the information for the role includes an image of Sudeikis as a reference. It looks like Ten Year Old Tom will be back for a second season. It has been announced that HBO Max has put in the order for season 2 of the animated series which had premiered its first season in September of last year. It had since been unclear if the streaming platform would bring back Tom for a second season, but per Variety, the news is now official and season 2 is currently underway....

The Americans will elevate guest stars Annet Mahendru (“Nina”) and Alison Wright (“Martha”) to series regulars for Season 2, which is expected to begin production in the fall.
