True crime might be popular, but DAHMER - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story was especially successful upon its release on Netflix. The series, featuring Evan Peters as the cannibalistic killer, was co-created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan. Along with delving into the horrific crimes perpetrated by Dahmer, the series also touches on the killings through the viewpoints of the victims and family members. After its release, Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story had users on Netflix streaming the program for billions of streaming hours, making the show Netflix’s second highest-watched English language series of all time....

According to Variety, Sam Raimi will direct The Wee Free Men, an adaptation of Terry Pratchett’s bestselling young-adult novel. Sony Pictures Entertainment has acquired the book and set Pamela Pettler to write the script. Raimi and Josh Donen will produce through their Sony-based company, along with Created By’s Vince Gerardis and Ralph Vicinanza. Studio is aiming to develop an event-sized live-action family film that Raimi could possibly direct as the follow-up to his third Spider-Man installment, which begins production this month....

In advance of its sixth season premiere, today Showtime announced that it has picked up Season 7 of its signature comedy series Nurse Jackie. The announcement was made by David Nevins, President, Showtime Networks Inc. Nurse Jackie stars Edie Falco in her Emmy Award-winning and Golden Globe and SAG-nominated role, and returns for Season 6 on Sunday, April 13 at 9 p.m. The seventh season of the series, which is a co-production of Showtime and Lionsgate, will begin filming in New York later this year....

Eric Cartman will be back on the big screen this fall, as Comedy Central has revealed the premiere date for South Park Season 23 in a new teaser trailer that dropped during Comic-Con. Starz is planning a possibly spinoff of their popular Spartacus series that will center on Julius Caesar. The Roman leader is making an appearance in the studio’s upcoming third season titled Spartacus: War of the Damned, and will be played by Australian actor Todd Lasance. Spartacus: War of the Damned starts after the killing of Roman commander Gaius Claudius Glaber.
