Schitt’s Creek alum Annie Murphy has joined the cast of Netflix’s upcoming second season of the critically acclaimed comedy drama, Russian Doll. The Emmy award winning actress’ role in proceedings is being kept under wraps, much like pretty much everything else about this series, but regardless of what capacity she will be involved, Murphy is sure to bring the same comic timing and effortless charm she has shown throughout the hugely popular Schitt’s Creek....

While Marvel has managed to negotiate its way around the Covid pandemic without too much damage, they have had to make a few release changes. One of those changes was releasing WandaVision ahead of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier in their Disney+ lineup. Fans were happy to finally see the return of Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as the titular duo in what became the second MCU series added to Disney+ in 2021....

The highly anticipated film, The School for Good and Evil, premiered on Netflix on October 19 and has since been the subject of numerous criticisms. With the exceptional cast and the promotional material establishing a high standard for the film, it was a surprise when websites rated the movie poorly. Critical reviews have suggested the film was a rip-off of Harry Potter and Disney’s Descendants. However, not everyone shares this sentiment, and audience ratings have been much kinder to the film....

The Boulet Brothers are making their way back to Shudder and AMC+ this October with The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula: Titans. The Boulet Brothers Dragula spinoff will premiere with two episodes on October 25th, Deadline reports. New episodes will then air on subsequent weeks. As nostalgia continues to reign in 2022, another 1980s film reboot is on the way. This summer, it was reported that Selena Gomez was on board to produce a reboot of the popular 1988 comedy Working Girl. Sigourney Weaver, one of the original film’s stars, weighed in on the upcoming production during Elle’s Women in Hollywood event. The actress told The Hollywood Reporter: The original film followed Tess McGill (Melanie Griffith), a smart and ambitious woman who is mistreated by her stockbroker boss....

Director Simon Wells has always been right at home at the drawing board, literally speaking. After starting out as an animator on Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, he transitioned into directing with An American Tail: Fievel Goes West, Balto, The Prince of Egypt, and the live-action adventure The Time Machine. After working as a storyboard artist for Disney for several years, Simon Wells made his directing return with the animated tale Mars Needs Moms, which hits the shelves on Blu-ray, 3D Blu-ray and DVD on August 9....

Fox has ordered a fifth season of the summer’s hottest show, So You Think You Can Dance. Created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe, the original dance competition follows amateur dancers as they compete in everything from Hip-Hop, Krumping and Popping to Salsa, Quickstep and Jive to be named America’s favorite dancer. Spider-Man has been a Marvel staple since his introduction all the way back in 1962. As explained by the theme song Paul Francis Webster and Bob Harris created for the 1967 television show, Peter Parker (or Miles Morales, later on), the superheroes’ alias, can do whatever a spider can. The Wrap is reporting that, contrary to previous reports, the Mary Jane Watson character will not appear in Marc Webb’s Untitled Spider-Man Reboot. Last month we reported that actress Emma Stone was playing Mary Jane Watson, then a few days later it was revealed that Emma Stone was actually playing Gwen Stacy. There was speculation that both Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy would appear in the remake, although now it seems James Vanderbilt’s screenplay never included the Mary Jane Watson character at all....

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. (MGM) today announced that it has begun a solicitation of votes from its secured lenders for a pre-packaged plan of reorganization (the “Plan”). MGM expects to continue normal business operations throughout the restructuring process. The Plan provides for MGM’s employees, vendors, participants, guilds, and licensees to be unimpaired. The Plan provides for MGM’s secured lenders to exchange more than $4 billion in outstanding debt for approximately 95.3 percent of equity in MGM upon its emergence from Chapter 11....

In Star Wars, the lightsaber, the preferred weapon of the Sith and the Jedi, holds enormous value to its owner. Every lightsaber has a series of crystals called kyber crystals, which could consist of simple crystals, gemstones, rocks, or other items that serve as the lightsaber’s energy source. These kyber crystals resonate, producing the recognizable “whoosh” sound everyone is familiar with and loves, to create a strong, effective blade. MALONE TO TAKE OVER DIRECTV News Corp Chairman Rupert Murdoch and Liberty Media Chairman John Malone have privately agreed on an asset swap in which Malone will receive Murdoch’s 39-percent stake in DirecTV, plus other smaller assets, and Murdoch will get Malone’s 19 percent voting stake and 15 percent nonvoting stake in News Corp, published reports said today (Thursday). The deal represents a financial u-turn for both men. Until now, Murdoch had tirelessly sought to create a worldwide satellite distribution system of which DirecTV would serve as the American nexus....

USA Network and Universal Cable Productions announced today that Suits has been renewed for an 8th season. Show creator and executive producer Aaron Korsh is set to return, as are stars Gabriel Macht (Harvey Specter), Sarah Rafferty (Donna Paulsen), Rick Hoffman (Louis Litt) and newly-minted series regular Dulé Hill (Alex Williams).
