i>IDOL WINS WEEK FOR FOX Thanks mostly to American Idol, Fox again finished first in the ratings last week, averaging a 7.0 rating and an 11 share and edging out CBS, the usual winner when Idolis not on Fox’s schedule, which averaged a 6.9/11. NBC placed third with a 5.4/9, with ABC close behind with a 5.2/9. For the first time, the new Brad Garrett comedy Til Death, landed in the top ten, thanks to its landing in the post-Idoltime slot on Fox on Wednesday night....

Heroic is a new must-watch film that offers a deep, personal perspective on the inner workings of Mexico’s military. Directed by David Zonana, the film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and is produced by Michel Franco. Variety had a chance to speak with the director, who says the film reflects Mexico’s economic and social backwardness, violence, and close relationship to military institutions. He added that the film is not only set on a macro level but also on an intimate, psychological level, which is what makes the film special....

TBS has renewed its new late-night series The Pete Holmes Show, which enjoyed a seven week run at the end of 2013. TBS has ordered an additional 13 weeks of the series starring popular comedian Pete Holmes and produced by Conaco LLC, the company behind the late-night hit Conan. New episodes of The Pete Holmes Show are set to launch Feb. 24 and will air Monday-Thursday nights at midnight (ET/PT), following Conan....

The Adam Project was, according to CBR, originally planned as an action movie that would star Tom Cruise in the leading role. However, in 2020, Netflix picked up the project that instead starred Ryan Reynolds as Adam Reed and was directed by Shawn Levy. Now the fourth most-watched movie on Netflix, The Adam Project sees the titular Adam going back in time to stop time travel from ever being invented as a result of the corruption and catastrophe it has inadvertently caused in the future....

The Book of Boba Fett starts off strong by answering a question that has bedeviled Star Wars fans for years. Chapter One, “Stranger in a Strange Land”, shows through flashbacks how Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) escaped the Sarlacc Pit on Tatooine. The premiere takes place five years after Return of the Jedi and following the events of The Mandalorian’s second season. Boba Fett and his bad-assed sidekick, the deadly assassin Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen), kill Bib Fortuna to claim Jabba the Hutt’s criminal empire....

This week on The Conners, Louise (Katey Sagal) started moving into the Conner’s home, and Dan (John Goodman) decided to sell the furniture set he bought for Roseanne when they were first married. In the spirit of new beginnings, Dan parted with furniture and fans now have a chance to own these beloved pieces of Conners family history. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles is auctioning a screen-used afghan, dresser, headboard, and two wooden nightstands that have all been part of The Conner’s home....

When we talked to Ray Stevenson last year about HBO’s hit series Rome getting the big screen treatment, the actor confirmed that Bruno Heller, the writer and director of the show, and Bill MacDonald were currently “in talks” to bring the series to feature film. Well, here we are a year later and it seems that Entertainment Weekly has some new details about the film finally moving forward. Rome the series aired from 2005-07 and took place during Ancient Rome, beginning with Caesar’s invasion of Gaul and continuing with the rise of the first Emperor Augustus....

You can bring home all the drama and hilarity from “Hank M.D.” on DVD this May. Royal Pains: Season 1 will be released on DVD on May 25. We don’t have pricing details or cover art as of yet, but this set will include all 12 episodes of this first season. We’ll update this story as soon as we have more information. Ryan Reynolds’ live-action adaptation of 80s video game Dragon’s Lair is apparently still smoldering at Netflix, and the actor recently spoke about the “innovative stabs” that the streamer are taking at the iconic IP. A live-action Dragon’s Lair has been in development for over two years, but since the initial announcement just prior to the start of the Covid pandemic there has been very little mention of the project. Now, as reported by Collider, it seems that the adaptation is very much alive and a very exciting prospect for leading man Reynolds....

In case you haven’t seen any of the trailers, TV spots, or, if you live in Hollywood like me, the hilarious billboards, The Campaign, arriving in theaters August 10, centers on a four-term incumbent, Cam Brady (Will Ferrell), who finds himself running against the eccentric Marty Huggins (Zach Galifianakis) for the Congressional seat in a small North Carolina district. The comedy was actually entitled Dog Fight when we were on the set, a title that still suits this movie quite well, since these candidates go after each other’s reputations… and kids… and wives… in hilarious and unorthodox ways....

Netflix, the world’s leading internet TV network, has ordered twenty episodes of Disenchantment, an adult animated comedy fantasy series from the mind of Matt Groening. Disenchantment, viewers will be whisked away to the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, where they will follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools....
