The Boys isn’t a typical superhero show. It’s an ultra-violent, self-referential, dark satire. It follows a group of vigilantes called “The Boys,” that aim to keep the high-powered, famous superheroes who constantly abuse their power in check. Aside from making you laugh, the show also has a lot of commentaries on our society: celebrity worship, #METOO, corporate influence and marketing. The series, which premiered in July, comes from showrunner Eric Kripke (Supernatural) and is based on the comic books by Darick Robertson....

The Good It is great to finally complete my Rockford Files DVD collection. The Bad No extras…? For a final season?The Rockford Files: Season Six is the final season of what has to be one of the best (if not the best) detective shows to ever be on television. James Garner and the rest of the cast really give it their all with this season playing as a fine swan song....

Though destruction king Roland Emmerich is busy finishing post-production work on his political thriller Anonymous, a more dramatic effort than we’re used to seeing from the director, that hasn’t kept him from perusing other interests more suited towards his craft. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Emmerich is gearing up to shoot a low budget alien invasion flick on the sly entitled The Zone. Few plot details are known at this time, but the thriller will be made up of “found footage”, with videos, reels, taped audio, and secret files that prove the existence of an alien force taking over the earth....

It’s been pretty dark lately on news of Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming Pinocchio. While news of the project has been out for a while, we don’t know too much outside of some casting news and the fact that it will be on Netflix. But new information finally surfaced thanks to Ron Perlman. Perlman sat down with Inverse to talk about Guillermo del Toro’s newest feature, Nightmare Alley. But he also had some cool things to say about the mysterious Pinocchio adaptation....

When asked if there was anything he could tease about the rest of this season, the actor revealed his own story line is ‘amazing,’ and that fans will get to learn much more about what the vampires can really do....

The Satanic Temple and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina have reached an amicable settlement. The temple filed a lawsuit against Netflix and Warner Bros. for “misappropriation” of their Baphomet statue a few weeks ago. The statue is shown frequently in the series, and the Satanic Temple was looking to get at least $50 million from the streaming platform. Warner Bros. handled the matter and have no further comment beyond stating that it’s a “confidential settlement....

In something as culturally iconic as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is near impossible for us to picture other actors cast as the beloved characters than the ones we already know and love. However, in the entertainment industry, it is not uncommon for multiple big-name actors to be considered for a single role. Since Robert Downey Jr. kicked off Phase One of the MCU as Iron Man alongside roles such as Captain America played by Chris Evans and Thor played by Chris Hemsworth, it seems ridiculous that anyone else could have been called to fill such big shoes....

Morningside Entertainment has optioned Bluewater Productions Sinbad: Rogue of Mars to adapt into an epic action adventure fantasy feature for 2012. A continuation of the Sinbad films that started in 1958 with The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, and followed in the 1970’s with The Golden Voyage of Sinbad and Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, Rogue of Mars is an updated sequel rather than a reboot. The acclaimed series Snowpiercer is getting canceled. Per Deadline, TNT has declined to renew the series for a fifth season. Ahead of season 3, which wrapped up in March, the network had already renewed Snowpiercer for season 4. The upcoming season will now serve as the final season of the show. A TNT spokesperson confirmed the news by releasing the following statement. This also marks the latest cancelation to emerge from the Discovery-WarnerMedia merger....

South Park returns for its 17th season with ten all-new episodes beginning on Wednesday, September 25 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central. On Tuesday, September 24, South Park: The Sixteenth Season will be released on Blu-ray and DVD by Comedy Central Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution. Netflix’s upcoming workplace comedy, Space Force has picked up some more cast members. Noah Emmerich (The Americans, The Spy), Jessica St. Clair (American Housewife, Playing House) and the prolific Fred Willard (Modern Family, Anchorman) are joining the comedy series from The Office leading man Steve Carell and The Office and Parks and Recreation creator Greg Daniels. Space Force follows the people responsible for establishing a “a sixth branch of the armed services… Space Force”....

Lucasfilm is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Star Wars: The Clone Wars at San Diego Comic-Con this year. MPAA ADMITS COLLEGE PIRATE STUDY WAS WRONG The Motion Picture Association of America has acknowledged that a study that it commissioned in 2005 – that concluded that widespread illegal downloading of movies on college campuses was responsible for billions of dollars in losses – was wrong. The study had claimed that students with access to high-speed Internet connections in college dorms were to blame for 44 percent of the industry’s domestic losses from online pirating....

Box office analysts are predicting that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Princewill earn $140 million or more between Wednesday and Sunday, with $100 million being tallied over the Friday-to-Sunday weekend, the Hollywood Reportersaid today (Wednesday). In fact, the trade publication observed, the film has a realistic shot of outdoing last year’s The Dark Knight, which was also released by Warner Bros.
