The Boys animated spinoff Diabolical hit Prime Video today, bringing a new arm of the comic book series to the platform and with the third season of the flagship show debuting in June there is still a lot to come from the series about the less than heroic “Supes” and the group of vigilantes attempting to bring them down. According to executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg the potential of the franchise is something that is only going to continue to grow as they are always coming up with new spin-off ideas....

Warner Bros. is looking to mount a remake of the 1981 classic The Cannonball Run, and it may have a unique financing partner in General Motors. The studio and car manufacturer are in discussions for a deal where GM would put up a financial investment in the remake. The studio is currently considering Guy Ritchie and Shawn Levy to direct the remake. It is said that Guy Ritchie wants Brad Pitt to star, while Shawn Levy is eyeing the project for Ben Stiller to take the wheel....

Roseanne Barr says she had to quit stand-up comedy because television executives were threatening her Roseanne rerun cash. Additionally, she believes her show was canceled because she is vocal supporter of Donald Trump. The iconic Roseanne was given a revival series in 2017 and all was good in the world. Barr was doing a good job of balancing her controversial opinions and satisfying the masses by bringing back one of the most beloved TV families in history back....

The Machinist scriptwriter Scott Alan Kosar has been set to work on the screenplay for Summit Entertainment’s Dracula film, Vlad. According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Charlie Hunnam wrote the original script, which takes an action-oriented look at Dracula, or Vlad the Impaler, as a young prince. Music video director and photographer Anthony Mandler recently came aboard to direct the project and will shepherd Kosar’s work on the screenplay. Vlad centers on Dracula as a young prince; he is known to history as Vlad the Impaler, the man behind the Dracula myth....

If there is one hard and fast rule of horror movies, it is that there is always room for another sequel. While it appeared that the Scream franchise had ended with Scream 4, and especially following the death of director Wes Craven, the success of Scream (5) earlier this year has seen Scream 6 going straight into production with a release date of March 31, 2023. When it comes to the franchise’s future beyond that, producer Kevin Williamson had suggested that there is no reason the saga can’t go on forever....

The latest episode of Dancing with the Stars streamed live on Disney+ on Monday night, and a particularly emotional moment came at the end of the “Most Memorable Year” episode. It was announced that actress Selma Blair, who had stood out as a fan favorite on this season with dancing partner Sasha Farber, was dropping out of the competition. This revelation was revealed in a video of Blair informing Farber that she needed to leave immediately due to health issues related to multiple sclerosis....

On the heels of record ratings for their second season debuts, two of Showtime’S critically and audience acclaimed original comedy series Nurse Jackie and the Emmy winning The United States Of Tara, have both been renewed for a third season. Both half-hour comedy series have received 12 episode orders and will go into production later in the year. The announcement was made today by Robert Greenblatt, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc....

Sing 2 is the surprisingly successful and well-reviewed sequel to the first Sing movie. It follows the wide ensemble cast of characters from the first film, with a few additions. The main plot consists of the team attempting to get a play done on a bigger stage in the big city. Unfortunately, many obstacles are put in their way, and they have little time to put on the performance of their lives....

Director James Mangold’s western 3:10 to Yuma was ready to start shooting this summer for Sony Pictures, but after four years of development, the studio has put the film in turnaround. “This is deja vu all over again,” Mangold told Daily Variety, referring to the fact that his last film, Walk the Line, was also set up at Sony and ready to start shooting when the studio pulled out. Mangold shopped that film all over town and was turned down by every studio but Fox, where the movie went on to be a critical and commercial hit....

WandaVision wasn’t the first TV series Elizabeth Olsen starred in. In fact, before WandaVision, Olsen starred in the Facebook Watch series Sorry For Your Loss. She played Leigh, a young woman navigating grief, loss, and family after the untimely and somewhat mysterious death of her husband. In addition to Olsen, Kelly Marie Tran, Janet McTeer, Jovan Adepo, and Mamoudou Athie also starred. Sorry For Your Loss was created by Kit Steinkellner and aired for two seasons through Facebook Watch, which, per Lifewire, is a video-on-demand service that allows creators to upload their short- and long-form videos — a sort of cross between social media and streaming platforms....

Andy Whitfield, star of Starz’s Spartacus: Blood and Sand has been advised by his doctors to immediately resume aggressive treatment for a recurrence of cancer, as a result of which he will not be returning for the series’ second season, which was tentatively set to air in September 2011. “It’s with a deep sense of disappointment that I must step aside from such an exceptional project as Spartacus and all the wonderful people involved....

Earlier today, Sony Pictures moved its sci-fi tale Singularity out of the May 17, 2013 release slot, scheduling it for November 1, 2013. Paramount Pictures is taking advantage of the opening, by slotting its highly-anticipated sequel Star Trek 2 into the May 17, 2013 release date. Back in June, J.J. Abrams said he won’t be making Star Trek 2 in 3D, although it appears that has changed. This new report reveals the sequel will be presented in 3D, but it isn’t known if they plan to shoot it in 3D, or convert it in post-production....

Cinemax has renewed the action series Strike Back for a seventh and final season, it was announced today by Kary Antholis, president, HBO Miniseries and Cinemax Programming. IOWA HALTS MOVIE TAX INCENTIVES The state of Iowa has shut down its tax incentive program for filmmakers and has launched a criminal investigation into the operations of the Iowa Film Office following the release of an accountant’s review showing widespread abuse of the program. In one instance, director Bruce Isacson was able to purchase a new Range Rover for $61,000 by listing it as a production expense, a spokesman for the Iowa Economic Development Department said....

THE DEBATE IS ON! The first televised presidential debate, due to take place in Oxford, MS tonight (Friday), will be held as scheduled. Republican presidential candidate John McCain announced today that he had reversed his previous decision to suspend his campaign inasmuch as significant progress had been made on a deal between Congress and the White House for a bail-out package. DEBATE RATINGS: IN NEED OF A RECOUNT? Astonishing many political pundits who predicted that the first John McCain-Barack Obama debate would attract a record audience for a presidential debate, preliminary Nielsen figures indicated over the weekend that the debate actually drew 12-percent fewer viewers than the 2004 debate between George Bush and Al Gore. Figures were based on electronic ratings conducted in 55 of the largest markets. More detailed ratings are expected to be released later today (Monday) but are unlikely to alter the original figures significantly, analysts said....
