We were all heading to visit Saving Grace, The Closer and the brand new TNT original drama Raising the Bar, from Steven Bochco. Oscar nominee and Emmy and Golden Globe winner Sharon Stone (Casino) has signed to play the Vice President of the United States in TNT’s new action-drama pilot Agent X (working title). Penned by William Blake Herron (The Bourne Identity), Agent X is being produced for TNT by Beacon Pictures, with Armyan Bernstein (Air Force One, Spy Game, Children of Men, Castle) serving as executive producer. In Agent X, Stone stars as America’s first female Vice President, Natalie Maccabee, a woman with brains, beauty, and a cool composure that belies a restless mind....

Performance and critique are both arts of interpretation. The two require a processing of otherness, and to take nothing and turn it into something. When repetition is added, inevitable variables will rise, which give such an exciting volatility to theater, live music, and performance art. In some ways, the remaking of motion pictures could be the equivalent to the acts of reinterpretation found in the aforementioned art forms. The industry’s current obsession with remaking is, of course, in no way fueled by the conceptual creativity that reinterpretation can bring to a work of art, but by the commercial prospect of nostalgic capital....
Sci-Fi Wire recently found out that Sony is moving ahead with its proposed Venom spin-off, which will follow the adventures of Spider-Man’s most popular nemesis. Zombieland co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick were hired to write the screenplay. In a recent interview, Wernick confirmed to Sci-Fi Wire that a draft of the film had recently been turned into Sony. The writer stated, “We’ve written two drafts of Venom, and the studio has it, and they’re pushing forward in whatever ways they push forward....
Sony Pictures Classics announced that they have agreed to fully-finance Redbelt, the next film by writer and director David Mamet (Screenwriter: Wag the Dog, The Verdict, and The Untouchables and Director: The Spanish Prisoner and State and Main). The company will also handle worldwide distribution for the film. Redbelt is scheduled to begin production this May in Los Angeles with Mamet directing from his original script. Redbelt is an American samurai film, set in the west-side Los Angeles fight world....
Netflix has announced that they are developing the Spanish superhero comedy El Vecino (The Neighbor). The series is based on the popular graphic novels by Santiago Garcia and Pepo Perez and it’s set to be one of the five new Spanish projects that the streaming platform has on tap for 2020. This follows the success of Elite and Carmen Sandiego, with the latter receiving accolades for being a perfect follow up to the original series from the 1990s....

Star Trek is boldly going to Nickelodeon next year to bring a new animated series to a new generation of fans. As announced during the Comic-Con@Home panel, Star Trek: Prodigy is the official title of the latest animated series in the franchise. The project was originally announced in April 2019, but details, as well as its official name, have remained scarce until now. A reboot of the classic game show Supermarket Sweep is currently in the works, and if fan favorite host David Ruprecht is hoping to return as the new series announcer. Between 1990 and 1995, Ruprecht hosted perhaps the most popular iteration of the show, helping to make Supermarket Sweep one of the most famous game shows of the ’90s. He returned for another run as the host of the show for the 2000-03 revival, further making himself synonymous with the name of the series....
Supernatural star Jensen Ackles says the final two episodes of the series are benefitting from the current extended break. The hit CW series was put on hold, with the rest of the entertainment industry, back at the end of March. Syfy is re-teaming with writer/director Nick Willing to present Neverland, his original prequel to author J.M.
