In September, Netflix dropped Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, a ten-episode series that explored the real-life serial killer from childhood to death. On the show, Evan Peters starred as the famous serial killer. As reported by Buzzfeed.News, Dahmer is known to have murdered 17 people between 1978 and 1991. He also confessed to eating parts of his victims’ bodies. Due to the gruesome nature of the events that took place, some of the victims’ family members criticized the series and claimed the Netflix show was “retraumatizing” the families that lost loved ones to Dahmer....

Sicario star Josh Brolin has offered some hope to those who would like to see the action thriller franchise return for a third outing. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Brolin was asked whether plans for a Sicario 3 had been abandoned. Rather than dash hopes and ruin people’s days, Brolin instead said that the sequel “deserves” to be made. No matter how long it takes. Released in 2015 and directed by Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve from a script written by Taylor Sheridan, the first Sicario introduces audiences to a grim and gloomy world of drug cartels, hitmen, and revenge....

After much speculation and rumor, it is now official. According to Variety, Stephen Sommers is indeed directing a big screen adaptation of the G.I. Joe cartoon show from the 80s, which was based on a set of Hasbro action figures. Sommers pitched his take on the franchise Wednesday night. He was hired on the spot. Peter Capaldi has come out to defend Steve Moffat’s run on Doctor Who. Steven Moffat was the showrunner of the modern era of Doctor Who from the time of Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor to Peter Capaldi’s Twelfth. During that time, Moffat was responsible for expanding and streamlining Doctor Who canon with a host of critically acclaimed episodes like The Pandorica Opens and The Big Bang. But not everyone was a fan of Moffat’s run on the show, with much of the criticism aimed at his overly convoluted plotlines and turning The Doctor into a grandiose, invincible, godlike being and thus stripping away his previously down-to-earth persona....

PROGRESS IN ACTORS’ TALKS WITH STUDIOS? The Screen Actors Guild and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers have agreed to extend their talks one week until May 2. The agreement was seen as a positive sign that the negotiators are making progress, and representatives of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, who are sitting in on the talks as observers, agreed to postpone their own bargaining talks with the AMPTP until May 5....

INDIE LIKELY TO GO DOWN AS HOLIDAY #2 Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skullearned an estimated $101 million between Friday and Sunday and might well outdo the current Memorial Day holiday champ, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,for the five-day record. Piratesearned $153 million during that period last year. Currently Crystal Skullis expected to come in at about $151 million. Final figures are due to be released on Wednesday....

HOLLYWOOD JOURNALISTS IN VERBAL DUEL A full-blown Hollywood blog war has broken out between journalists Nikki Finke, an apparent supporter of the Screen Actors Guild’s bargaining strategy with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, and Sharon Waxman, who has criticized it. At issue is Waxman’s recent report that SAG officials recently held secret meetings with high-profile actors in a successful effort to persuade them to support a planned strike-authorization vote....

BOX OFFICE GETS HOT AGAIN The Coen Brothers’ Burn After Readinglit a fire under the box office over the weekend as it opened with an estimated $19.4 million. The comedy thriller starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Frances McDormand and John Malkovich edged out Tyler Perry’s The Family That Preys, which took in $18 million. The Al Pacino-Robert De Niro drama Righteous Kill placed third (most analysts had predicted it would land in first place) with $16....

LAST BUT BY NO MEANS LEAST It may be the fourth-place television network, but NBC has succeed in getting advertisers to sign on the line to $1.9 billion in commitments for the coming season – a $100-million increase over last year, according to Advertising Agemagazine. One unnamed media buyer told the trade publication that the increase could be attributed to the fact that some advertisers are moving more money into the upfront market from the “scatter” market in order to lock down lower prices....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Susan Sarandon is circling the role of Victoria Barkley in the big-screen version of The Big Valley. Kate Edelman Johnson is producing this feature version of the TV show that was created by her late father, producer Louis F. Edelman, and writer A.I. Bezzerides. The Big Valley ran on ABC from 1965-69. It starred Barbara Stanwyck as the matriarch of a ranching family in the 1870s San Joaquin Valley....
