This year marks the first annual Bel Air Film Festival, which will be happening in and around the Bel Air area of Southern California starting Friday, November 14th and running through Wednesday, November 19th. There will be plenty of excellent films for you to check out, along with a number of guest speakers that will be presenting their films with a Q&A. We have a full schedule of events and have included where you can buy tickets to each screening....

Guillermo del Toro has certainly become a recognizable name in the horror, sci-fi, and fantasy genres, especially in terms of the most enveloping environments that mesmerize audiences. He always seems to be adding new masterpieces into his repertoire, and even his discarded projects pique the continued interest of viewers. His track record of entertainment excellence seems to speak for itself, developing memorable world-building and a sense of uniqueness. Besides incredible practical effects and his penchant for creatures within his works, his films are often marked by show-stopping acting performances....

I was really ready to like this film. The premise is extremely interesting. If a strange man offers you a weird box and said that you could have a million dollars if you pushed the button inside but someone, somewhere that you don’t know will die, what would you do? I was looking forward to seeing how this would play out but unfortunately all I get from Richard Kelly’s “The Box” is mixed feelings and an unsatisfying ending....

Production on The Boys Season 4 is now underway. Creator and producer Eric Kripke has taken to social media to reveal that filming has now begun on the highly anticipated fourth outing for the likes of Billy Butcher, Hughie Campbell, and the rest of the supe-combating crew. Not much needs to be said about the good news, with Kripke captioning an image with a simple “Oi.” Which says it all, really....

The Boys continues to expand its cast with the upcoming fourth season. The new supes, named Firecracker and Sister Sage, will be played by Valorie Curry and Susan Heyward, respectively. Each season in the Prime Video superhero series has introduced new characters, with Season 2 bringing Stormfront (Aya Cash) and the third season adding Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles). The details of the new roles are kept under wraps for now, so should fans expect two new prominent cast members?...

According to Variety, the Weinstein Co.’s highly anticipated experimental pic – for which Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez are each set to helm a 60-minute horror tale – is headed into production in the coming weeks, with Rodriguez readying to shoot his segment on his home turf of Austin, Texas. Rodriguez’s part, Planet Terror, will be a zombie pic, while Tarantino’s section, Death Proof, will a slasher seg. Casting hasn’t been announced....

Paramount+ has revealed our first look at the streamer’s upcoming Rugrats reboot series. Giving the familiar babies a CG-reimagining, the characters look pretty much the same for the most part beyond making the switch from 2D to 3D. Like the original series, the new Rugrats will follow Tommy and his pals utilizing the best of their imagination to go on big adventures around the house. Sarah Paulson is set to star in an upcoming horror thriller titled Dust, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In addition to acting, she will also work as an executive producer for the project. Dust is being produced by Searchlight Pictures. Given Paulson’s talent, the horror thriller will likely be the latest addition to a long line of high-quality performances. Will Joines and Karrie Crouse are directing the film. Additionally, Crouse is writing the movie’s screenplay....

Hulu has released a new trailer for its upcoming docuseries Sasquatch. As is made clear by the title, the series will focus on the legendary creature. But this is more than the average investigation into the alleged existence of Bigfoot. As we can see from the trailer, the documentary, produced by the Duplass brothers, weaves in murder, drugs and mystery to make this much more than a search for the beast....

STILLER WINS, BUT SLY MAKES CREDIBLE COMEBACK Going into the final rounds of the holiday battle at the box office today (Monday), Ben Stiller’s Night at the Museumwas pounding Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky Balboa. The Stiller comedy has earned an estimated $30.8 million through Sunday while the Stallone boxing drama had earned $22.1 million. (That figure also included receipts for Wednesday and Thursday; Friday-through-Sunday receipts were put at $12.5 million). Last weekend’s winner, The Pursuit of Happyness,starring Will Smith, also put up a good fight, earning $15 million over the weekend,to bring its 10-day total to $53....

A PRESIDENT’S DAY LIKE NO OTHER AT BOX OFFICE It’s now official: the Friday the 13th/Valentine’s Day/President’s Day weekend produced the biggest February weekend in box-office history. According to final figures released by Media by Numbers Tuesday, the box office was up 31 percent over the same four-day holiday period last year to a sensational $220 million. Leading the parade was Warner Bros.’ Friday the 13th with $43.6 million – the most ever raked in by a so-called slasher flick....

MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE Paramount’s Transformerscontinued to dominate the 4th of July box office, earning $28.69 million on the Wednesday holiday, bringing its total since Monday to $64.89 million. Generally, the mid-week box office continued to soar, posting overall record results. The Wednesday box office also saw solid ticket sales for Disney’s Ratatouille, which took in $10.25 million, bringing its six-day total to $72.72 million.
