As The Batman arrived in cinemas, talk of sequels and spin-offs have already begun, with a lot being teased about the future of the new Batman franchise. As well as a sequel, there will also be a spin-off series focusing on Colin Farrell’s Penguin, and there was the rumored Gotham PD spin-off also in contention. However, in a recent interview, director Matt Reeves has fired-up speculation of a third spin-off based on Arkham Asylum also being in development....

Roseanne returns to ABC with a straight-to-series order of 8 episodes and is expected to debut sometime early next year. Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf, Michael Fischman, Lecy Goranson, Johnny Galecki and Sarah Chalke will all be returning, but it is unknown what role Chalke will play. The official news comes amid numerous reports of the return of the beloved family sitcom, but this is the first official news to come down the line, despite the fact that Roseanne Barr initially said otherwise....

Rush Hour producer Arthur M. Sarkissian has revealed that another sequel for Brett Ratner’s comedy franchise is in the works. He recently interview and spoke about the direction of the new films and who would possibly be involved. Here the producer explains where he wants to see the next film to go. The producer also goes on to speak about Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker’s chemistry in the first two films....

If Saved by the Bell is the next TV series to be rebooted, several key cast members are already on board. It’s been many years since we’ve seen the graduates of Bayside High, but now that we’re in the age of classic TV series revivals, there’s a good possibility we’ll see some of them again. Netflix has unveiled our first look at the return of Stranger Things Season 4 with a host of new images. Released via social media, the images put the spotlight on the members both old and new, of the beloved gang at the center of the Stranger Things drama as well as teasing the series’ release next month. The images put many classic teams together once again, including Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, David Harbour as Jim Hopper, and Brett Gelman as Murray Bauman, who will need to find a way out of Russia and back to the States....

FIRST, THE JEWS; NOW GIBSON ANGERS THE MAYA Some descendants of the Maya tribes depicted in Mel Gibson’s Apocalyptohave denounced the movie as racist and not representative of their ancient culture. In an interview with Reuters, Ignacio Ochoa, director of the Nahual Foundation, said, “Gibson replays, in glorious big budget Technicolor, an offensive and racist notion that Maya people were brutal to one another long before the arrival of Europeans and thus they deserved, in fact, needed, rescue....

MOVIES RELEASED EARLY FOR DOUBLE HOLIDAY Hollywood has decided to combine Valentine’s Day with Presidents Day this year by releasing four new movies today (Thursday) in hopes of winding up with a rewarding 5-day weekend. Topping the list is 20th Century Fox’s sci-fi thriller Jumper, starring Hayden Christensen and Samuel L. Jackson, which box-office prognosticators estimate will do about $32-38 million in business despite almost entirely negative reviews. Providing general family fare, Paramount’s The Spiderwick Chronicles, whose views have mostly been positive, will likely take in $20-25 million....

KATZENBERG: MORE MOVIES COMING IN 3-D Although 3-D movies have been around since the 1950s, DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg described them Tuesday as “nothing less than the greatest innovation that has happened for all of us in the movie business since the advent of color 70 years ago.” The difference today, Katzenberg seemed to suggest, is the ability to control the 3-D product using digital technology. He made his comments at ShoWest, the Las Vegas conference of movie exhibitors....

SAG, AFTRA SIGN COMMERCIALS PACT With all sides no doubt heaving great sighs of relief, the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists on the one hand and the American Association of Advertising Agencies and the Association of National Advertisers on the other announced that they had unanimously agreed on a tentative three-year commercials contract, subject to the approval of the two unions’ membership. The agreement was reached early this morning (Wednesday) as negotiators continued bargaining talks throughout the night at New York’s Crowne Plaza hotel following the expiration of their previous contract at midnight....

O.J. SIMPSON MAY RETURN, AFTER ALL O.J. Simpson will have the right to resell publication and TV rights to his book If I Did Itbefore the end of the year, Timemagazine reported Monday, citing a source close to Simpson, who also told the magazine that Simpson is seeking to have News Corp surrender the rights earlier than the original deal stipulates so that he can sell the book to European publishers....

WILL SILVERMAN’S DEPARTURE SUCCOR NBC? NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker’s decision finally to remove Ben Silverman from running NBC was greeted with shouts of “What took you so long?” from several bloggers and newspaper TV columnists. But Zucker continued to defend his decision to hire Silverman two years ago. “Ben wasn’t a traditional choice,” he told today’s (Tuesday) Los Angeles Times. “But he brought us a lot of new ways of thinking about the business....

Just off the heels of today’s news that Édgar Ramírez might play the villain in Superman, another contender has emerged in Michael Shannon. It still isn’t clear who this villain actually is, with speculation running to the character Zod. There was another rumor last month that Ursa, Zod’s sidekick, might be the main villain, although that seems unlikely now. This unknown villain is clearly next on Warner Bros. casting agenda, though....
