In the film business “parallel development” is nothing new. There are many ideas and many people trying to come up with ideas, so the thought that two people can have the same idea shouldn’t surprise anybody. This is precisely why if you are a budding screenwriter (which I am), you are often asked to sign a release form (which I do) stating that if you submit your material to a production company, you are doing so with the knowledge that they are getting and developing ideas that might be similar to yours....

Boots (Franz Drameh) betrays Baba Voss (Jason Momoa) and the twins, but has other motivations for Maghra. Queen Kane (Sylvia Hoeks) makes her predicament worse. The Cutter (Timothy Webber) realizes he has something of value. “Silk” opens with Baba Voss screaming for Maghra in the woods....

After we talked with Funny People writer-director Judd Apatow, we stayed and watched them do a few more takes of the scene we had been watching. Not a whole lot was changed up, but they would shoot at different angles to maximize Oscar-winning cinematographer Janusz Kaminski’s (remember him in the hilarious Oscar skit with Seth Rogen and James Franco?) scope in the scene. After a few more takes, the scene was complete and we ventured up the hill with the rest of the production as they moved to a scene… well, up the hill as they were taking a breather from their weary hike in the scene....

Today director Steven Spielberg will shout “Action!” marking the return of the character who redefined cinematic action as cameras roll on the first day of principal photography on the new Indiana Jones adventure. Fans of Shudder’s Creepshow revival will be able to get their hands on the entire second season on DVD and Blu-ray from December 7th. Star of the upcoming fan-made project Spider-Man: Lotus Warden Wayne posted a public statement on Twitter Saturday, apologizing for past usage of “offensive language,” including racist and homophobic remarks. The lengthy apology comes after screenshots surfaced of Instagram messages the actor, now 22, had sent as a teenager. “Years ago when I was in high school, I used to say terrible things. I used offensive language, often homophobic or racially insensitive, casually or in jokes....

We’re going to boldly go to new places with Patrick Stewart as Jean Luc Picard roughly a year from now. CBS Chief Creative Officer David Nevins recently confirmed that the untitled Star Trek Picard Series, which is being developed for their streaming platform CBS All Access, will debut toward the end of 2019. While he didn’t reveal an exact premiere date, this gives Trekkies something to look forward to. Nevins made the reveal at the 46th Annual UBS Global Media and Communications Conference recently....

According to Variety, Steve Miner has been set to direct Day of the Dead the Millennium Films and Emmett/Furla Films remake of George Romero’s 1985 zombie tale. Final Destination scribe Jeffrey Reddick is writing the script. Miner takes the job after directing such fright films as “Halloween H2O” and Lake Placid. Romero wrote and directed the original, which follows a group of scientists and military personnel holed up in an underground bunker because the world above is overrun with zombies....

Stranger Things 4 will be the longest season of the entire series. And it turns out that the final episodes of the season have to do a lot with that. In an interview with The Wrap, the show’s creators and directors, the Duffer Brothers have confirmed that the season finale will be of feature film length in terms of run time. The conclusive season of Netflix’s hit series, Stranger Things 4, has already been split up into two volumes to account for the vastly spread plot lines and overall story....

After many fans made it loud and clear that they wanted a soundtrack for Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things, the streaming service announced that it is happening! This Friday, the first in a two volume set of music will be released by Netflix and Lakeshore records. Details have been announced for this epic soundscape, with Pitchfork previewing the first track. The Stranger Things soundtrack comes from musicians Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein, who are part of the Austin band S U R V I V E....

WILL SMITH OVERPOWERS CRITICS In the latest demonstration of how little influence film critics are able to exert on the box office these days, the Will Smith starrer Hancockcollected an estimated $66 million over the three-day weekend despite an avalanche of negative reviews. In an interview with Bloomberg News, Paul Dergarabedian, president of Media by Numbers, said, “The Sony marketing machine and Will Smith’s recognition transcend any [critical] barbs the movie might sustain....

YANKS, ANGELS NO MATCH FOR HOUSEWIVES Game 4 of the Yankees-Angels American League playoff series got off to a strong start on Fox Sunday night as it posted a 9.8 rating and a 16 share in the 7:00 p.m. hour, well ahead of 60 Minutes, the usual winner of the time period, which drew only a 7.4/13. IMAX Corporation, Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures announced today that Zack Snyder’s epic action fantasy feature film Sucker Punch will be released in the immersive IMAX format on Friday, March 25th. The film will open on 229 IMAX screens domestically, simultaneous with its North American wide release. The film will also open on at least 78 IMAX screens internationally, with 22 screens releasing day-and-date. Additional international playdates are expected to be confirmed in the coming days....

Super Dave Osborne, self-described as the greatest daredevil superstar entertainer of all time, triumphantly returns to television in a four-part event series on Spike TV titled Super Dave’s Spike-Tacular premiering Saturday, November 14 at 11 p.m. The half-hour, four-week special event will air Tuesdays at 9 p.m., beginning on November 17. Played by Emmy-award winner Bob Einstein, Super Dave will be featured in this mockumentary-style series which chronicles his preparations for a weekly death-defying stunt....

It seems that controversial director Terry Gilliam is going back to La Mancha. According to Variety, Gilliam is reviving his long-lost film, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote, a decade after the film’s disastrous first attempt. Gilliam’s first stab at the Miguel de Cervantes adaptation was plagued by terrible weather that ruined sets, lead actor Jean Rochefort’s illness, to name just a few problems. The plagued film’s production problems were captured in the documentary Lost in La Mancha....
