In effort to give each and every DVD it’s full share of coverage, we at the site do our best to scour the movies we are sent and review not only the films but all their special features. In my review of William Wyler’s epic Ben-Hur, I hypothesized that on the commentary track provided by Charlton Heston and Film Historian T. Gene Hatcher, it sounded like they had been cut together from two different viewings of the movie and not done at the same time as the DVD seemed to suggest....

It seems that retailers trying to lure consumers have ended up frustrating them more than anything else. In a story from Home Media Retailing, it appears that some fans of Prison Break have inadvertently gotten the shaft. Trying to get fans of the show to buy it from Target or Best Buy, the stores offered a bonus disc exclusive to that store in each set. “Best Buy’s offering included a bonus DVD with all 26 of the two-minute ‘mobisodes’ (mobile phone episodes) of the Toyota-sponsored spinoff series ‘Prison Break: Proof of Innocence....

Just a day after Donald Glover tweeted out a highly-meta, mock script for his abruptly cancelled Deadpool animated series, his brother Stephen Glover revealed there was actually some truth to that script. Donald Glover’s 14-page script made reference to an episode centering on pop star Taylor Swift, with Stephen Glover revealing in two now-deleted tweets that there actually was a Taylor Swift episode, and that also was the “last straw” for the show....

Some time back, Stephen Daldry was attached to direct an adaptation of Michael Chabon’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, with Scott Rudin set as the producer. Later on, Chabon said the project went south for “studio-politics kinds of reasons that I’m not privy to.” Well, the project may have life left in it, as Daldry told Ain’t It Cool News. Speaking to Daldry at a junket for The Reader, the director said that he was still hopeful that Paramount would put the film back into production, and that as far as he was concerned, he was still attached as director....

Netflix is getting into the Babysitting business. The streaming giant is ready to resurrect the hugely popular franchise The Baby-Sitters Club with an original live-action dramedy based on the beloved book series by Ann M. Martin. Kristy Thomas, Mary Anne Spier, Claudia Kishi, Stacey McGill, and Dawn Schafer are back…This time on Netflix! Based on Ann M. Martin’s best-selling book series, The Baby-Sitters Club is a contemporary live action original series that will follow the friendship and babysitting adventures of five best friends in Stoneybrook, Connecticut....

The Conners is continuing the Halloween tradition this year with a brand-new holiday-themed episode There Won’t Be Blood. The original Roseanne series ran a Halloween show every year, except for the very first season of the show back in 1988. The new spooky-themed episode has been teased over the last few weeks, but we’re not entirely sure what will happen in the episode, except for the fact that Matthew Broderick will be introduced as a potential love interest for Aunt Jackie and that Mark’s Halloween costume isn’t allowed at school....

This just came in from Fox. America has decided to eliminated Neil Haskell, Lacey Schwimmer, and Danny Tidwell. That makes Sabra Johnson the winner of So You Think You Can Dance. Sci Fi Channel has greenlit Caprica, the much-touted prequel to the hit series Battlestar Galactica. According to Variety, Caprica will star Eric Stoltz, Esai Morales, Paula Malcomson and Polly Walker, and will be set 50 years prior to Battlestar Galactica’s seminal attack on human civilization by those dreaded ‘droids the Cylons. The family-drama-themed series will focus on the Earthlike planet of Caprica as two rival families deal with, among other topical issues, the broader implications of their society’s emerging artificial intelligence technology sector....

SCI FI Channel has re-teamed with RHI Entertainment (Legend of Earthsea), the industry leader of miniseries and movies made for television, for a wild sci-fi re-imagining of The Wizard of Oz. Written by Steven Long Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle (creators of The Pretender), Tin Man (working title) is a six-hour miniseries featuring a decidedly sci-fi twist on the fantasy classic. Lensing is slated to begin in Vancouver in early 2007 with an eye to a December 2007 premiere....

The popular duo who play Jeff and Lester (“Jeffster”) discuss the new Halloween episode entitled Chuck Versus The Aisle of Terror guest starring Robert Englund Halloween is just around the corner and NBC will start unveiling its Halloween episodes tonight with a new episode of Chuck entitled Episode 4.06: Chuck Versus the Aisle of Terror, which will air at 8 PM ET. Two of the stars of this popular series, Scott Krinsky and Vik Sahay, who play Jeff and Lester on the show, recently held a conference call to discuss this very special Halloween episode....

LionsGate has announced a change to its release schedule, moving the Nicolas Cage supernatural thriller Season of the Witch away from its original March 19th start date. At this time, the film has not been given a new slot on their release calendar. Reasons for the move were quite obvious, as March 19th has become a crowded weekend with such anticipated films as the musical biopic The Runaways, the adaptation of Jeff Kinney’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Universal’s Repo Men, and the Jennifer Aniston action comedy The Bounty Hunter all vying for that top spot at the box office....

Secret Invasion is an upcoming Marvel Disney+ series starring Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, and Martin Freeman. Nick Fury (Jackson) and Talus (Mendelsohn) must stop the Skrulls, a villainous race who have infiltrated the highest levels of the MCU. Secret Invasion explains the story of their unknown invasion of Earth. The Skrulls, a group of alien shape-shifters, have secretly replaced many superheroes in the Marvel Universe with impostors (the Skrulls pretending to be them), as part of their plan to take over the planet....

Saturday Night Live has been on a holiday hiatus since mid-December. The long-running sketch comedy show returned Saturday, January 15, for its first episode of 2022, with host West Side Story star Ariana DeBose and musical guest Bleachers, who replaced rapper Roddy Ricch after one of the members on his team was exposed to COVID-19. The first sketch of the night addressed what’s on everyone’s minds, the rising number of COVID-19 cases due to the contagiousness of the new Omicron variant....

Sony Pictures Classics has acquired U.S. distribution rights for Nadine Labaki’s Where Do We Go Now?, which won the Cadillac People’s Choice Award at the recent 2011 Toronto International Film Festival. The new film Spider-Man: No Way Home has been smashing records since its recent debut in theaters, and that’s hardly a surprise given the clear interest in the sequel ahead of its release. While this movie served to conclude a trilogy of Spider-Man movies with Tom Holland in the lead, Marvel has already begun work on Spider-Man 4. Whether or not Holland returns as Peter Parker remains to be seen....

While the DVD hasn’t officially been announced yet, it seems some details have come forth about one of the year’s biggest hits on DVD. It seems that Variety has gotten a hold of the DVD and Blu-ray details for the forthcoming Star Trek DVD, which will apparently hit the shelves on November 17. The trade is reporting that the film will be released in a two-disc DVD set and a three-disc Blu-ray set, both of which will include a new state-of-the-art feature right on the disc’s packaging....

Last month, American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy confirmed what many fans have suspected for years, that each of the previous seasons are connected to each other. Over the weekend, TMZ reported that part of a script had been stolen and is being shopped to media outlets, with the pages confirming that the show’s seasons are connected. While the site didn’t go into specific details, the script was stolen from the New Orleans set last week, after an unspecified actor left some pages behind after filming....

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stuart Townsend has left Marvel Comics’ movie adaptation of Thor over “creative differences” stated sources close to the production. Townsend was supposed to play Fandral, an ally of the Norse god Thor. More sources report that he has been replaced by Joshua Dallas. This casting change comes as production is about to begin. Shooting starts up Monday with Kenneth Branagh. Townsend, 37, is probably best known as being cast as Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings trilogy but was similarly replaced at the last minute by Viggo Mortensen....
