The first trailer for the upcoming video game sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has arrived, with the spiky, blue SEGA icon once again speeding his way through another exciting adventure. Sonic will not be alone this time though, with his foxy sidekick Tails along for the ride having been introduced in a post-credits scene at the end of the first movie. Returning Spider-Man variant Peter B. Parker will have a daughter in the upcoming animated sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, some newly released concept art has revealed. Coming courtesy of Sony Pictures Animation, the images reveal our first look at Parker with his daughter as his newfound role as a father likely impacts his relationship with Miles Morales as he finds himself standing against the rest of the Spider-Force. In the saga of Spider-Man, this is not the first time that Peter Parker has had a child, with his offspring occasionally inheriting his powers and more often than not coming up against one-or-more of his archenemies....

Starz Chief Executive Officer, Chris Albrecht, announced today that Starz will partner with Sony Pictures Television to greenlight Outlander, an original series adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s international bestselling books. The network has ordered 16 episodes of the series which will begin filming in Scotland this fall. It is slated to premiere in 2014. The series adaptation for Outlander will be written by Ronald D. Moore (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: The Next Generation)....

Starz Media Animation has picked up the original screenplay Q from writers Alec Sokolow and Joel Cohen, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In a rare deal for screenwriters, the Cheaper by the Dozen and Toy Story scribes also will partake in back-end profits as well as merchandising and ancillary revenue. Inspired by “Don Quixote,” the project centers on marionettes in Central Park who escape from their theater and embark on a fanstastical adventure....

Legendary director Steven Spielberg has revealed how heavily he is involved in the upcoming sequel, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. The filmmaker behind all four prior Indiana Jones outings, Spielberg had been on board to helm the fifth before walking away from the project back in 2020. Despite his surprise departure, Spielberg has now revealed that he was “peripherally involved” in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny while speaking with Deadline, and that he backed director James Mangold....

ANATOMY SCORES POST-GAME VICTORYABC’s Super Bowl XL telecast on Sunday averaged 90.72 million viewers making it the biggest audience draw on television since the Super Bowl telecast in 1996. ALL-STAR GAME SCORES STRONGLY Ratings for Fox’s telecast of Tuesday night’s All-Star game averaged a 10.6 rating and an 18 share, 7 percent above last year’s 9.9/16, according to Nielsen overnights. The telecast won every half hour of primetime, including the 8:00 p.m. pre-game hour. The ratings results reflected the continuing resurgence of baseball as the national pastime, also signaled by record rises in attendance at many ballparks. Last week Fox announced that it had sold out all its available spots for the All-Star Game at a record average price of $375,000 for a 30-second spot – a figure that was nearly 10 percent above last year’s....

VIEWERS MOVING FROM BOOB TUBE TO YOUTUBE U.S. Internet users watched 12.7 billion videos on line in November – 5.1 billion of them on YouTube, according to a study released Monday by market researcher ComScore. All other websites featuring videos drew comparatively tiny audiences, with the next largest, Fox Interactive Media, accounting for 3.5 percent of total traffic – or 439 million videos watched. SEINFELD CAST SET FOR REUNION ON HBO NBC, which had them, is not getting them, but HBO is – the original cast of Seinfeld playing the characters they did when the sitcom left the air in 1998. The cast will be reunited for the next season of Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, playing themselves and also playing their characters. David, who co-created Seinfeldwith stand-up comic Jerry Seinfeld, told television critics and writers in Pasadena on Thursdaythat while he had resisted suggestions for a reunion of the original Seinfeldcast on his HBO show (“I would always say: ‘No way – it’s a lame idea’), the concept of a “show within a show” intrigued him....

RATINGS FOR TONY AWARDS JUMP – SO DO NBA’S Broadway’s Tony Awards ceremonies made a game attempt to compete against the NBA finals Sunday night. The CBS telecast, which aired from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. averaged 7.3 million viewers, 18 percent above the 6.2 million posted during the previous two years. Perhaps emboldened by the plans for Julie Taymor’s Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, it seems there are now plans to revive the 1966 Broadway Musical It’s a Bird… It’s a Plane… It’s Superman. The revival is being written by playwright and comic author Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, and directed by Kevin Moriarty, as was revealed by MTV News. The original 1966 Broadway version of the show featured music from Charles Strouse and Lee Adams with a book by David Newman and Robert Benton....

There is a lot of expectation on Robert Pattinson’s upcoming superhero movie The Batman bringing in some serious ticket sales when it arrives in cinemas at the beginning of March and early estimates from Box Office Pro have now predicted a figure of $150 million as the expected opening weekend haul. As a comparison, that prediction puts the movie in line with the likes of Captain Marvel, which released around March back in 2019 and well above many of 2021’s releases such as Black Widow and other Marvel movies except for Spider-Man: No Way Home....

New Batman actor Robert Pattinson has drawn some high praise from The Batman co-star Zoë Kravitz. Opposite Pattinson as the new Bruce Wayne, Kravitz also stars as Selina Kyle, the cat burglar also known as Catwoman. The two were briefly shown together in the second trailer for The Batman, teasing the scenes they’ll be sharing together in the upcoming feature.
