Roseanne Spin Off The Conners Premieres In October

It’s official, the Roseanne spin-off series The Conners will premiere this October. The announcement comes a few months after ABC canceled the Roseanne revival series after creator Roseanne Barr made some racist posts on Twitter. The comedian has since apologized for her behavior in a few pretty bizarre ways that seem to have actually made everything worse. With that being said, the spin-off idea was hatched pretty early on during all of the controversy, and was officially announced a few weeks after all of the dust had settled....

Ryan Reynolds Describes The Difficulties Of Bringing Deadpool Movie To Life

Deadpool has long been one of the most popular Marvel Comics characters, and the love from fans only grew with his big-screen debut in 2016. The first Deadpool film was unlike anything that had been produced since the superhero genre exploded in 2000, with Wade Wilson’s origin story being a blood-soaked, fourth-wall-breaking, action-comedy. Deadpool was not only brought to life on-camera by Ryan Reynolds, but the actor had a significant role in putting the film together behind the scenes as well....

Saint Omer Review The Truth Of True Crime Gets Explored In France S Oscar Submission

A courtroom drama is all about getting to the truth. “You can’t handle the truth!” shouted Jack Nicholson from the stand in A Few Good Men, and maybe that’s sometimes the case. Mostly, though, we just can’t understand the truth. Saint Omer turns the legal drama of courtroom movies on its head by peering straight into the mysterious void of the human heart and finding more questions than answers. Alice Diop’s film takes a true crime case and depicts it with intense formalism and rigid accuracy, only to discover the same impasse which haunts nearly every crime (and every person) — you can’t really know what’s going on in someone else’s head....

Sleeping Beauty Review

Julia Leigh’s directorial debut, Sleeping Beauty, caused quite a stir when it debuted earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival. Its frank subject matter and stark portrayal of a sexually blase college student is certainly interesting, but not nearly as much as expected after the festival hype. Emily Browning (Sucker Punch) stars as Lucy, an emotionally distant college student who struggles financially with menial jobs. Whiling away as a copy girl and waitress, she spends her nights having random sexual encounters....

Smallville Recap For Episode 7 07 Wrath

We all know the classic phrase, “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” Give that woman the powers belonging to a Kryptonian, and you just know things are going to get interesting. And that’s what we had this week on Smallville. I should start off by saying I wasn’t looking forward to this episode - the “Clark’s love interest gets his powers” plotline has really worn me out. But I was pleasantly surprised by “Wrath”....

Steel Serpent Teased In New Iron Fist Season 2 Video

Netflix’s Iron Fist is one of the only Marvel properties to attend this year’s San Diego Comic-Con and it’s teasing something big ahead of the panel this Friday. In a new video promoting Season 2 and the Comic-Con appearance, a hint about Steel Serpent’s presence in the upcoming season has been made and it could be just the kick that the show needs after lackluster reviews for the first season. One of the more common complaints is that there weren’t enough fight scenes for one of the greatest martial artists in Marvel history, but if Steel Serpent is involved, Season 2 is about to get a lot more action....

HARD KNOCKS FOR PIRATES Although it faced no competition from the opening of another summer blockbuster, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s Endsaw its ticket sales plunge 68 percent in its second weekend to $44.2 million. It was the biggest second-week drop of any summer tentpole flick, and several analysts attributed the drop to an absence of repeat business. Particularly troubling – galling even – for studio executives who have routinely been pouring $100-200 million into such films is that Universal’s Knocked Up debuted in second place with $30....

MOVIE REVIEWS: THE HEARTBREAK KID The Heartbreak Kid, starring Ben Stiller and directed by the Farrelly brothers, is a remake of a 1972 movie by the same name that starred Charles Grodin, was written by Neil Simon, and was directed by Elaine May. “That movie was better in every way,” comments Roger Ebert in his review of the new one, which he calls “a squirmy miscalculation of tone.” Ebert is by no means alone....
