The smash hit animated musical adventure from 20th Century Fox is available on Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, and DVD August 2nd 20th Century Fox’s animated hit Rio is making its Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D, and DVD debut this week. To help usher in this fantastic family release, we caught up with world renown musician Sergio Mendes, who contributed heavily to the soundtrack. Here, we talk about the creation of the rhythms heard in the movie, the storyline, which follows a domesticated Macaw hoping to find love in Brazil, and what it was like collaborating with director Carlos Saldanha....

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is nearing its Aug 18 Disney+ release, and the courtroom comedy is paying tribute to one of the longest-running series of all time. Law & Order has been on the air for 22 seasons, surpassing 450 episodes since its debut in 1990. So it would only be right for the upcoming MCU series to give the nod to a fellow show focused on the legal system within the United States....

Shirley Manson definitely won’t be playing a “stupid girl” in a hit new series this fall. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Garbage” frontwoman Shirley Manson has been cast in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. She will become a series regular, portraying Catherine Weaver, the CEO of a state-of-the-art technology corporation. This is the first major acting role for Manson, whose band “Garbage” burst on the scene in 1995 with their self-titled album that went double platinum with the help of the popular singles, “Only Happy When It Rains” and “Stupid Girl....

Toy Story 3 screenwriter Michael Arndt is currently in talks to write Disney’s updated version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which is titled Snow and the Seven. Disney has been developing the project since 2002, which takes a much different approach to the original story. The movie is set in 19th Century China and centers on an English woman who travels to Hong Kong for her father’s funeral. When she discovers the nefarious plans of her stepmother, the woman escapes into mainland China where she is taken in by seven renowned warriors....

Consumers may not have spent as much but according to The Digital Entertainment Group (DEG), “software shipments and hardware sales both achieved record highs” in the First Quarter of 2007. In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, it seems that “suppliers shipped 414 million DVDs into the market during the first three months of this year, up nearly 5% from the first quarter of 2006>.” In addition to this, “consumers bought more than 8 million DVD players, beating by 3% the previous record, set in the first quarter of 2006, according to data from the Consumer Electronics Assn....

TNT won’t renew Southland until the final three upcoming episodes left in Season 4 finally air. But word is that the cop drama is likely getting renewed for Season 5, which is exciting news, at least for us here at TVweb. A renewal with the network won’t be announced until all of the live-plus-7 data is in for the year, but current numbers and critical praise is pushing the notion of another season forward at an accelerated rate....

Lucasfilm has gone full steam ahead with their Star Wars TV series on Disney+. Everwood alumna Stephanie Niznik has been tapped to star on the CW’s upcoming drama series Life Is Wild, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Meanwhile, Brent Sexton has been added to the cast of NBC’s upcoming drama Life as a regular. Life is Wild, from CBS Paramount Network TV, Company Pictures and WBTV, centers on a New York veterinarian (D.W. Moffett) and his second wife (Niznik) – a beautiful and rich corporate lawyer – who move to a South African game preserve with their two sets of children....

Steve Irwin’s son Robert has recreated a famous photo of his late father posing with a koala, and at first glance, you could almost swear you were looking at the original Crocodile Hunter himself. Truly a chip off the old block, Robert’s physical similarities to his father are uncanny, the young man is now looking like his dad even more so than ever. A SURPRISE WEDNESDAY WINNER AT BOX OFFICE The first day of the long Independence Day weekend began at the box-office with a victory not for Transformers 2and not for Public Enemies,the two films that were expected to be the primary contenders for first place. Instead, the hands-down winner was the 20th Century Fox animated 3D feature Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, which grossed an estimated $14 million in its debut....

UP GOES DOWN; HANGOVER HANGS OVER In a final result that no one saw coming, Warner Bros.’ The Hangover edged out Disney/Pixar’s Up over the weekend. Final figures indicated that The Hangover raked in $44,979,319 to take the No. 1 position in the box-office rankings. Up fell to second place with $44,138,266. While The Hangover performed better than the studio had estimated, Universal’sLand of the Lost lost even more ground than the studio had thought, winding up with only $18,837,350....

BUILD A BALLPARK AND THEY WILL COME Despite the fact that the television networks have written off Saturday as hopeless and have programmed it in recent years mostly with reruns and reality shows, viewers returned to their sets en masse last Saturday to watch the World Series, even though the game was delayed by rain and even though it had to compete with Halloween activities. A serious injury has caused shockwaves throughout the latest Harry Potter film. Daily Mirror is reporting that Daniel Radcliffe’s stunt double for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was seriously injured after a stunt rehearsal at Leavesden Studios near Watford, England. The 25-year-old stuntman was rehearsing a flying stunt on a harness when he was sent through the air after an explosion, a planned part of the stunt. It was thought that perhaps the stuntman, who was not named, might have caught part of that blast....

Fresh of its recent Emmy wins, NBC’s Saturday Night Live returns for its 33rd season on September 29 (11:30 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. ET) for three consecutive shows with a diverse and star-studded line-up. Saturday Night Live continues its historic run while breaking new ground, including recently taking home two Emmy Awards, including an Emmy for the SNL Digital Short-turned internet phenomenon – “D**k in a Box.” The show kicks off its new season September 29 with one of the newest generation of NBA superstars – Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James....

You can enjoy your favorite Demon Barber of Fleet Street in 1080p this October. Sweeney Todd will be released on Blu-Ray on October 21. The film was set to be released on the now-decunt HD DVD format, but was scrapped after Blu-Ray’s victory.
