A new RoboCop video game is in the works and a gameplay trailer reveals that original star Peter Weller is reprising the role. Developed by Nacon, RoboCop: Rogue City is heading to PC and consoles next year, as previously announced. The all-new gameplay trailer provides a sneak peek at what the game looks like along with the debut of Weller’s digital version of RoboCop as seen in the title. “The triumphant return of RoboCop wouldn’t feel right without the man who brought so much life into the role, and we’re excited to reveal that Peter Weller will be performing voiceover work on the game....

Peacock has more Saved by the Bell where last year’s reboot series came from. After becoming the No. 1 show on the NBCUniversal-owned streaming service, the new Saved by the Bell has been officially renewed for a 10-episode second season. This marks the first Peacock original series to get a renewal thus far, though the news isn’t particularly surprising, given that the reboot turned out to be a success for the streamer....

Alison Brie is returning to the big screen with her latest comedy, Somebody I Used to Know. The project is a collaboration between the actress and her husband, Dave Franco, who helms the film. Franco has seen a long career in Hollywood, with notable roles in movies such as The Disaster Artist, 21 Jump Street, Now You See Me, The Lego Movie, and Neighbors. However, Somebody I Used to Know will be the second project with Franco behind the camera, as he made his feature film directorial debut with The Rental in 2020, for which he also wrote the screenplay alongside Joe Swanberg....

The Patrick Star Show is officially a go at Nickelodeon. The ViacomCBS-owned network has just greenlit 13 episodes of a SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff series following SpongeBob’s longtime best pal, Patrick Star. Bill Fagerbakke, who has been voicing the character since 1999, will reprise the role for the series, portraying a younger version of Patrick who hosts a TV program and lives with his family. Per Variety, Nickelodeon head Brian Robbins also describes the network’s plans for SpongeBob moving forward, comparing the expansion of the franchise to “a mini-Marvel Universe....

Known as a literary master of horror, Stephen King has had more than 50 adaptations based on his novels, novellas, and short stories. One of these adaptations is Stand by Me, which is based on a novella titled The Body, from his book of novellas, Different Seasons. Stand by Me was released in 1986, was directed by Rob Reiner (The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally), and starred Wil Wheaton, River Phoenix, Jerry O’Connell, Corey Feldman, and Kiefer Sutherland....

i>HAPPYNESS ROLLS LUCKY 13 FOR SONY Box-office receipts for The Pursuit of Happynesswere the source of happiness for Sony execs over the weekend as the film raked in $27 million in ticket sales, well ahead of expectations. The film, starring Will Smith, became the 13th Sony film to premiere as the No. 1 film at the box office this year, extending a record for the studio. Sony has earned more than $3 billion in worldwide box-office sales this year, divided almost equally between domestic and overseas receipts....

SUPERHEROES SHOW BOX OFFICE STRENGTH The superhero take-over of the box office continued apace over the weekend as Universal’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army took over first place with $34.54 million, edging out last week’s superhero flick Hancock, which took in $32.08 million. (Another superhero, Batman, is expected to take over next weekend.) In third place was Warner Bros.’ Journey to the Center of the Earth, which earned $21.01 million. In fact, Journey, which was designed to be shown in digital 3-D, far surpassed the two leaders in ticket sales at the 954 theaters which were able to show it in that format....

FOOTBALL THROWS IN TOWEL TO HOUSEWIVES Even football proved to be no match for Desperate Housewives as the ABC drama made its season debut with the highest ratings of any show Sunday night, scoring a 15.8 rating and a 23 share. Nevertheless, the figures were considerably below the 19.1/26 registered by the season opener of Housewiveslast year. Last year, however, the show did not have to face the double-barreled competition that it took on this time around....
