The buzz surrounding the upcoming Star Wars series on Disney+, Ahsoka, is growing as the cast starts to flush out. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ray Stevenson has signed on in an undisclosed role. Stevenson, who recently appeared on Vikings, is also known for appearing in Thor and its sequels as Volstagg, as well as Frank Castle in The Punisher: War Zone. How his character will be featured in the new episodes remains to be seen....

Killer Films is teaming up with HarperCollins’ Sharp Independent for a big screen adaptation of Elissa Wall’s memoir Stolen Innocence: My Story of Growing Up in a Polygamous Sect, Becoming a Teenage Bride and Breaking Free of Warren Jeffs. According to Variety, Wall’s court testimony helped convict known polygamist Warren Jeffs last year. The film will tell of Wall’s time spent as a member of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints....

RECORD Movie theaters throughout the country reported brisk business on Christmas Day and said that Marley & Mewas beating out the the Adam Sandler comedy Bedtime Stories, which box-office forecasters had regarded as a shoo-in to take first place. In an email message, box-office tracker Paul Dergarabedian of Media by Numbers said that it looked like the total box office for the day would be around $75 million, “which is pretty incredible....

TILLMAN DEATH DIVIDES MILITARY, MEDIAA report that the Army has agreed to open a new investigation into the death of former NFL star Pat Tillman in Afghanistan in 2002 has touched off new charges that the military has been manipulating information about the Middle East conflict in order to stir up patriotic fervor at home. MARVEL’S EMBARRASSMENT OF RICHES Iron Manwas pure gold for Marvel Entertainment in the company’s third quarter, with revenue pouring in from theaters faster than the company had expected. Profits were up 39 percent to $50.6 million on revenue of $182.5 million. Marvel had originally advised investors not to expect much revenue from its Iron Man feature until next year. However, the company said that $60 million of its third-quarter gross came from the superhero movie....

WORRIED CBS STATIONS DROP CBS 9/11 FILM More than two dozen CBS affiliates have decided either to drop or delay an updated version of the documentary 9/11 after some “family values” groups mounted a campaign to urge the FCC to fine the network and its stations for what one of their leaders described as “hardcore profanity” spoken by some of the rescuers who appear in the film. Congress recently increased the fines the FCC can impose on a station for broadcasting indecent language from $32,500 to $325,000....

CBS Sports’ coverage of Super Bowl XLIV, featuring the New Orleans Saints’ 31-17 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, Feb 7 (6:31-9:50 PM, ET), was watched by a Nielsen estimated average of 106.5 million viewers, making it the most-watched program in television history, eclipsing the finale of MAS*H in 1983 (106 million). “With all the memorable story lines going into Super Bowl XLIV combined with the awesome power of the NFL, we are thrilled with this rating, and I am extremely proud of the way the entire CBS Television Network produced, sold and promoted the most-watched television show in history,” said Sean McManus, President, CBS News and Sports....

The first look at the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie has been revealed. Previously adapted as a live-action feature film in 1993, the new movie will be fully animated in a style reminiscent of the video games. On Thursday, Oct. 6, Nintendo will debut the first trailer for the film for a Nintendo Direct presentation. Along with this announcement from Nintendo comes the release of the first poster, unveiling our first look at Mario in the Mushroom Kingdom....

Tangled, which opens on November 24th, is the 50th animated feature film from Walt Disney Pictures and the last of their planned princess themed movies, based on the classic “Rapunzel” fairy tale. The movie stars a talented cast of voice actors including Mandy Moore (A Walk to Remember), Zachary Levi (Chuck), Donna Murphy (Star Trek: Insurrection), Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond), Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development) and Ron Perlman (Hellboy). Terrence Howard is set to join Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man, according to Variety. The Jon Favreau-directed film is the first to be financed through an arrangement that Marvel Studios formed with Merrill Lynch. Paramount Pictures releases the film May 2, 2008. Howard will play Jim “Rhodey” Rhodes, the confidante of Iron Man’s alter ego, Tony Stark. Rhodes, a high ranking military officer and aviator, steers the team that develops the robotic suit that allows the sickly Stark to fly around and battle bad guys....

In literature, an essay is a composition dealing with its subject from a personal point of view.
