VIEWERS PREFER OBAMA/MCCAIN TO DODGERS/PHILLIES The third and final presidential debate Wednesday night attracted 28.91 million viewers on the broadcast networks (cable figures were not immediately available), with NBC leading with 10.34 million viewers, followed by ABC with 9.66 million, and CBS with 8.91 million. Fox did not cover the debate because of the MLB National League playoff game, which averaged 7.26 million viewers. In the 90s, it seemed like the only way to properly end a movie was to have the hero walk in slow motion away from an explosion. The fact that CGI took quantum leaps forward in the 90s opened up the possibilities for movies to feature astounding effects-heavy fights, chases, and detonations that would have never made it to the screen in the 80s. Maybe it was the end of the millennium or the end of the Cold War, but something about the 90s made it a golden age for action movies....

Book two of C.S. Lewis’s famed Chronicles of Narnia gets the epic adaptation treatment a la Peter Jackson’s interpretation of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy. The book was deeply steeped in Christian religious ideology and the dated patriarchal themes of World War Two England. The film foregoes this and the result is a rousing action epic with a healthy dose of good feeling. Family films are usually disappointing, but ‘The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe’ is a grand success....

Among the many new Marvel shows coming to Disney+ in the next year, Secret Invasion is one that fans have been waiting to see since it was initially announced as a potential film project several years ago. Heat Vision is reporting that Sharlto Copley (District 9) is in negotiations to join I Am Number Four for DreamWorks. The film is an adaptation of the upcoming young-adult science fiction book by James Frey and Jobie Hughes. Alex Pettyfer (Beastly) is going to play the title role of Four. He is one of nine aliens who leave their home planet before its annihilation by a rival species and then “hide out on Earth disguised as human high schoolers....

Paramount Pictures just made a behind-the-scenes featurette for Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island available! Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, virtually sit at the director’s knee and get to see the master director and master thespian in action. The film, based on the novel “Shutter Island” by Dennis Lehane, is an atmospheric psychological thriller set in a 1950s asylum for the criminally insane. It’s 1954, and up-and-coming U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to investigate the disappearance of a patient from Shutter Island’s Ashecliffe Hospital....

Shared Cinematic Universes have taken off over the last decade thanks to the success of the MCU, and now Paramount Pictures and Sonic the Hedgehog want to enter the game. Speaking with EuroGamer, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 producers Toby Ascher, Neal H. Moritz, and Sega CEO Haruki Satomi revealed that the upcoming sequel is the first step towards a Sonic Shared Universe. FX has just handed out a preemptive Season 6 order for the hit drama series Sons of Anarchy, while also signing series creator Kurt Sutter to a new three-year overall deal. We reported back in October that FX renewed Sons of Anarchy for Season 5. It is also being reported that, while nothing is official yet, Kurt Sutter is planning on ending Sons of Anarchy after its seventh season. The official trailer has just been released for The Wheel of Time, the upcoming Prime Video series based on the best-selling book series of the same name. Moviehole reports that Sony has issued a casting calls for young boys to portray an adolescent Peter Parker, as well as the son of Dr. Curt Connors a.k.a. The Lizard, in their upcoming Untitled Spider-Man Reboot. Director Marc Webb is seeking males between the ages of 4 and 6 to play the younger version of Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker. They are looking for “dark-haired Caucasian boys” to audition for the role....
