The Netflix documentary series The Day I Met El Chapo: The Kate Del Castillo Story is currently available for streaming, but actor Sean Penn has been fighting the streaming service to make some big changes to the episodes as they are being presented now. Penn’s lawyers claim the actor may face bodily harm if the three-episode series continues airing as is. And they demand that Netflix alter their content as it’s currently being presented....

One of the most influential figures in children’s television, Lloyd Morrisett, died this week. The beloved and iconic Sesame Street co-creator passed away at the age of 93 on Monday, leaving behind a legacy that children and parents alike will cherish for generations to come. It was his role as co-founder of the Children’s Television Workshop, later renamed Sesame Workshop, that Morrisett will be most remembered for. Morrisett continued to serve as chairman of the Sesame Workshop board until 2000 and remained a board member until his passing....

Fans of Zack Snyder’s DC Universe are some of the most undeterred in the world. After overcoming the odds to help instigate the director’s cut of Justice League, the dedicated fanbase, who still want to see the Synderverse play out on screen, have not accepted that the franchise as it was is dead at Warner Bros. You just can’t keep a good supervillain down, especially when that villain is Venom, one of Spider-Man’s most popular archfoes. Sony is moving forward with plans for a Venom movie, as writing team Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese told SCI FI Wire. Wernick and Reese were discussing Zombieland when they revealed that they were working on the film, although they wouldn’t reveal any details about the film. “We’re under strict orders on Venom,” Wernick said....

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse co-director Peter Ramsey has been brought on board to direct a project titled Blood Count based on a spec that Ramsey wrote. The spec was picked up by Paramount and was eventually handed over to Ramsey for directorial duties. The details of the film’s plot are still under wraps; however, it has been described as a period vampire thriller....

When Squid Game took the world by storm in 2021, the series again proved that a foreign language project could achieve massive global success, even with a western audience. The Netflix show is still the streamer’s most-viewed series, raking in a total of 1.65 billion hours viewed over its first 28 days. This record is a feat even Stranger Things couldn’t reach with its fourth and penultimate season. Squid Game, created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, is nominated for 14 Emmys in 2022....

During the Star Trek Universe panel hosted by lifelong Trekkie Lea Thompson, which took place Saturday, July 23, 2022, in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, it was revealed that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season two would feature an episode that crosses over with the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks. The ten-episode first season of Strange New Worlds began being released on Paramount+ beginning in May 2022, and it quickly rose to the top of many Trekkie’s “Best of” lists....

There have been a lot of great villains in the history of Star Wars, and Darth Maul, though very short lived (at least in the movies), is most definitely one of them. Maul was killed off at the end of The Phantom Menace, which has always been a sore spot for fans. Steve Zissis has signed on for one of the two male leads in the HBO pilot Togetherness from creators Mark Duplass and Jay Duplass. There have been several names thrown in the speculative mix as to who will be the new judge on Fox’s hit reality show American Idol next year. According to The Live Feed, one new judge is Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler. Reps from Fox declined to comment on the story, but the site is reporting that two sources close to the show revealed that Tyler has signed his deal to judge the upcoming season of the reality hit series....

Stranger Things is getting a collection of classic Hasbro games from the 1980s. The hit Netflix show takes place in the 80s and is pretty much a love letter to the decade’s pop culture. Gaming has played a pretty large role in the show since its inception, with one particular game standing above the others. The game in question is obviously Dungeons and Dragons, which has received a really cool retro look with some Stranger Things new additions thrown into the mix....

New details have emerged about Stranger Things Season 2, and apparently it’s going to be even more horrifying than Season 1. GET SET FOR AN AVALANCHE OF OLYMPICS COVERAGEThe NBC Universal broadcast and cable outlets have scheduled a record 416 hours of coverage of the Torino Winter Olympics, the company said Tuesday. The figure amounts to an 11 percent increase over the previous record of 375 1/2 hours set during the Salt Lake City Olympics in 2002. NBC will carry 182 hours of coverage, while the rest will be divided between the CNBC (61 hours), MSNBC (71 hours), and USA (101 hours) cable networks as well as two HDTV (high definition) channels, NBC HD and Universal HD, which will simulcast programming from the other outlets....

AFTER 50 YEARS, DISNEY RELICS TO RETURN TO U.S. Some 250 pieces of original Disney animation art that wound up lying in a janitor’s closet at Chiba University in Japan for nearly a half century are due to be returned to the Walt Disney Co. after being rediscovered. In return, Disney has agreed to provide high-resolution digital copies of the artworks and $1 million to be used by the university to further studies in animation art....
