Negotiations between the Directors Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers continued on Tuesday for the fourth consecutive day and were scheduled to resume today (Wednesday), with some trade and Internet reports suggesting that a tentative agreement could be announced before the end of the week. If so, analysts will immediately examine the kind of agreement the DGA has made with the AMPTP on residuals for digital distribution, the key issue involved in the writers’ strike....

BOX OFFICE IS BLOOD SUCKED Vampires had a field day at the box office over the weekend, leaving it nearly bloodless. Sony’s 30 Days of Nighttook in $16 million and last weekend’s Why Did I Get Married?,$12 million, but they were the only two films to finish in double digits. Of seven other films (in addition to Night) that opened over the weekend – a record number – the highest grossing film was Fox Atomic’s The Comebacks, which earned just $5....

We reported earlier this year that Terry Gilliam would finally get to make the film he tried to make a decade ago, and now it seems that the film is taking serious steps forward. Empire recently spoke to Gilliam at the British premiere of his new film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, who revealed that things are looking up for The Man Who Killed Don Quixote. Mary Elizabeth Spacek had a glamorous childhood spent riding horses, swimming, playing in the woods, and climbing trees. Called Sissy by her brothers, the name stuck and would later become her stage name. Warner Bros. has found their leading man for the musical Rock of Ages, with Diego González Boneta landing the coveted role of Drew Boley. We reported in March that the studio set up an open casting call for this role, which took place last weekend. Here’s a description of the character from that casting call. Julianne Hough will play Sherrie Christian, who Diego González Boneta’s Drew Boley falls for. Diego González Boneta has made recent appearances on CW’s 90210, a recurring role on ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars and the straight-to-DVD sequel Mean Girls 2....

Relativity Media have just released their Comic-Con teaser posters for The Raven And Haywire. Check out the one-sheets below. InThe Raven, Edgar Allen Poe (John Cusack) joins forces with a young Baltimore detective (Luke Evans) to hunt down a mad serial killer who’s using Poe’s own works as the basis in a string of brutal murders. Directed by James McTeigue, the film also stars Alice Eve, Brendan Gleeson and Oliver Jackson-Cohen....

Last March, we had the rare opportunity to travel to London, England and visit the set while they were shooting the two films simultaneously. Not only did we have the opportunity to watch them filming, and take a tour of the massive and impressive Leavesden Studios, but we also had a chance to speak with several members of the cast and crew including director David Yates and actors Mark Williams, Evanna Lynch, James and Oliver Phelps, Warwick Davis, Rupert Grint and of course … Harry himself, Daniel Radcliffe....

With Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings 2 now confirmed to be in development, returning director Destin Daniel Cretton has begun dreaming of which actors he could add to the Marvel sequel. Allowing his imagination to run wild, the filmmaker has come up with the perfect addition – martial arts legend Jackie Chan – whose involvement Cretton describes as a “lifelong dream.” Discussing the sequel with Cinemablend, Destin Daniel Cretton was quick to name Jackie Chan as the actor he would most like to bring into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings 2, and while no conversations have yet taken place, the director was more than happy to have the interview shared far and wide in hopes of sparking something....

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has provided a pretty solid MCU entry, despite some fans not being quite on board with the full-on comedy angle of the show, and with the series now more than half done, it seems we are going to get a bit of a shake-up according to director Anu Valia. The show is currently a “limited series,” which means that it will likely come to a set ending in the next four weeks and as director of episodes 5-7, Valia has said that the series will not deliver what fans are expecting....

Shohreh Aghdashloo is in final negotiations to join Keisha Castle-Hughes in Nativity, New Line Cinema’s look at the life of the Virgin Mary before the birth of Christ. Catherine Hardwicke is directing the movie, which is being produced by Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the story, to be told with a strong female perspective, will follow Mary and Joseph’s life before Christ as their love, faith and beliefs are tested....

Given all of the surprises that came with the recent release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, there’s no telling what else Marvel will have in store for fans with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Delving deeper into the multiverse will likely be bringing about even more big surprises. There are also rumors of other characters from the MCU coming in, and among them is Shang-Chi. This year, Simu Liu made his MCU debut as the star of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings....

The CW Network has announced that its hit series Smallville will return in the fall of 2010 for a momentous tenth season. Smallville, a modern retelling of the Superman legend, stars Tom Welling as Clark Kent. The series moved to Friday nights this season, where it currently ranks as network television’s #1 show in its time period among men 18-34 and men 18-49. Additionally, “Smallville” has dramatically improved The CW’s ratings performance in its Friday 8:00-9:00p....

The latest Morbius trailer not only shows off more of Jared Leto’s monstrous vampire antihero, it confirms that Sony are going hard with their planned shared universe. The newly released footage is filled to bursting with clues, hints, and Easter Eggs, all of which tie Morbius not only with the likes of Venom, but with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and even perhaps The Amazing Spider-Man franchise too. Aside from introducing Jared Leto’s blood-sucking Marvel antihero, the footage brings many elements from across the cinematic Spider-Verse into the fray including Michael Keaton’s Spider-Man: Homecoming villain Adrian Toomes AKA The Vulture, the beloved newspaper The Daily Bugle, the Oscorp building - which carries the same logo as The Amazing Spider-Man, a shot of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man in the form of some graffiti, and even mentions of Marvel rogue’s Black Cat and The Rhino, both of whom appear in the Daily Bugle....
