Robin Williams is eyeing a return to the small screen with an untitled workplace comedy written by David E. Kelley. CBS is in talks to pick up the pilot, which will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television. The show is set within the advertising world, with the actor set to play an executive who works alongside his daughter. David E. Kelley will executive produce alongside Bill D’Elia. David E. Kelley wrote the pilot script first before shopping it around to studios and networks, as opposed to just pitching an idea....

According to Vulture, Sam Worthington has been offered a starring role in This Means War for Fox. The film is being directed by McG. As America’s home for satire for nearly fifty years, SNL has definitely picked up the occasional controversy or two. Whether it comes to unnecessarily edgy sketches, polarizing political hosts, or musicians ripping up pictures of the pope, the show has seen an unfathomable amount of both onscreen and offscreen antics. Some sketches raise the question, to what extent does certain content count as “funny” or worthy of being satirized? Although criticized for growing more and more tepid over the years, SNL still continues to push these boundaries - whether they intend to or not....

MGM Studios’ remake of RoboCop will likely go into production soon, since an August 9, 2013 release date has already been handed out. While the cast is starting to come together, lead by Joel Kinnaman as Alex Murphy, the screenplay was recently given a harsh review through a series of tweets by Hitfix’s Drew McWeeny. The draft was written by Joshua Zetumer, with revisions by Nick Schenk (Gran Torino). It’s quite clear that he did not approve of this script, as you can see from his comments that offer some new details on the story....

Columbia Pictures is bringing the “Man of Bronze” Doc Savage back to the bigscreen, attaching Shane Black to write and direct a film from a screenplay he is writing with Anthony Bagarozzi and Chuck Mondry, according to Variety. One of the most popular characters in the pulps of the 1930s and ’40s, Doc Savage was also popularized on radio, film and TV. Trained since birth to be nearly superhuman in every way, Doc Savage uses his skills and powers to fight evil all over the world....

Paramount Home Video is loading up in June! In a story from DavisDVD, they report that the studio has picked June 26 realease Mark Wahlberg’s action fest, Shooter. Not too much is known about this release except that the DVD will most likely come out in full screen and widescreen versions. Synopsis: Based on Stephen Hunter’s novel Point of Impact, Shooter centers on an ace marksman – living in self-exile in the Arkansas wilderness after causing the death of an innocent person – who is persuaded by his former associates that they need his help to prevent an assassination....

John Cho (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle) has been cast as Sulu, the Enterprise’s helmsman, while Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead) has signed on to play Scotty, the ship’s Scottish chief engineer, in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek feature for Paramount, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Already on board are Zoe Saldana as Uhura and Anton Yelchin as a young Chekov, the Russian-born navigator, as well as Zachary Quinto as a young Spock....

Summit Entertainment is eyeing Smallville showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar to direct an adaptation of Andrew Klavan’s popular Young Adult novel series Homelanders for the big screen. Miles Chapman will write the screenplay, which will be helped along in the development process by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. The series is described as a cross between The Bourne Identity and Disturbia, following the plight of a teenager who awakens one day to find himself tied to a chair after a whole year has passed him by....

The pivotal film Somewhere In Queens debuted in June 2022 at the Tribeca Film Festival. When it premiered, it thrust its writer, director, and star Ray Romano into uncharted waters. The former Everybody Loves Raymond star was hesitant (and, in his words, pessimistic) at the thought of transitioning into serious, dramatic roles. In a 2022 Variety interview, Romano explained his perspective on entering into the new project, stating: This heartfelt comedy tells a story that includes many facets of not only Ray Romano’s life but the lives of many who lived, worked, and identified with the larger Queens community....

Will a different Spidey web be spun(-off)? According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony is looking to branch off of its Spider-Man franchise with a sequel centering on the villain Venom. However, it seems that there may be a long road ahead for this film. The trade reports that Sony had ordered a draft from Mean Creek scribe Jacob Estes, although now it is reported that the studio wants a different take on the subject and is now searching for different writers for this potential spin-off....
