BERMAN TOPPLED AT PARAMOUNT Another shake-up has jolted the executive peak of the Paramount mountain. The studio announced late Wednesday that Paramount Pictures President Gail Berman had resigned after 18 months – with two years remaining on her contract. Allison Shearmur, co-president of production at Paramount, was also forced out. Paramount Chairman and CEO Brad Grey had personally selected Berman to become the studio’s No. 2 executive shortly after he succeeded Sherry Lansing in 2005....

Another cast member has just been announced for the upcoming reboot of The Crow. Previously, it had been reported that Bill Skarsgård would be leading the new film as Eric Draven alongside FKA Twigs as his fiancée. FX has closed a deal with acclaimed actor/comedian Russell Brand for six half-hour installments of an unscripted late night series (untitled), which will debut in the spring of 2012, announced Nick Grad, Executive Vice President, Original Programming, FX. These will feature Brand’s unvarnished, unfiltered take on current events, politics and pop culture. The six installments will be shot in front of a live audience and the format will draw heavily on interaction with that audience....

Showtime has ordered 12 episodes of an unusual one-hour crime thriller series, Dexter, starring Emmy®- and Golden Globe®- nominated actor Michael C. In a story from Variety, Sigourney Weaver will be starring in Disney’s You Again. In addition to this, the actress is currently circling Greg Mottola’s comedy Paul for Universal and Working Title Pictures. Paul stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as two sci-fi fanatics on a road trip whose conspiracy dreams come true when they encounter an escaped alien near Area 51. As they try to reunite him with his mother ship, they find Paul has many more opinions than your typical ET....

The Good Michael Angarano does a very good job inhabiting the classic “everykid,” in this tale of a boy coming to terms with being a superhero from a superfamily. The Bad Too much of this movie plays how you think it should play when it was clearly ripe to be shaken up a bit in it’s story structure. There really seemed to be a lot of potential for Sky High, yet it didn’t seem to ignite the spark that I thought it would....

As we get closer to Smallville’s Season 10 premiere on September 24, Ausiello Files has news of another returning character: Alan Ritchson’s Aquaman. Aquaman was last seen on the CW series during Season 8. The site reports that Alan Ritchson will return as Arthur “AC” Curry/Aquaman during the ninth episode, which will air during November sweeps week. Alan Ritchson is just the latest Smallville cast member confirmed to return for the 10th and final season....
