When Jeff Lemire developed his 2009 comic book Sweet Tooth, he had a passion for dystopian fiction. Lemire wanted to apply his own mark to the genre and introduce fans to a never seen dark and gritty post-apocalyptic world. Lemire tells Tara Bennet of Syfy that the main character, Gus, the boy with antlers, “kept popping up” in his sketchbooks before the comic book actually materialized. When the story of Gus was finally coming to fruition, Lemire was particularly influenced by fears around his unborn child at the time and “this world that [his] son would grow up in....

FX has ordered Season 4 of the critically-acclaimed and award-winning drama The Americans, it was announced today by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, Presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. The Americans, currently the #1-ranked television series on Metacritic with a 92, will return for a 13-episode fourth season in 2016. Four episodes remain in The Americans Season 3, which will conclude with the season finale on April 22nd....

The folks at Walt Disney Studios are out to change the way consumers view movies in the home. In October, Disney will release its first animated classic on Blu-ray Disc, Sleeping Beauty offering viewers a full palate of high-tech viewing options. Thanks to BD Live technology, which connects to the Internet, viewers will be able to pop Sleeping Beauty into their Blu-ray Disc player and get a customized version of the famed Sleeping Beauty castle that serves as a backdrop for the menu....

Susan Heyward has signed on to play the female lead in Powers, an adaptation of Brian Bendis’ comic book series for Sony’s Playstation Network. Max Fowler and Adam Godley have also joined the cast. The comic book is set in a world where people with extraordinary abilities are commonplace, with a police division entitled Powers that handles crimes committed by these superhumans. Susan Heyward is portraying Deena Pilgrim, who is partnered with Christian Howard in the homicide division, protecting mere mortals from those who have the ability to fly through the sky on lightning bolts and clash in epic battles in the clouds above the city....
