Ltd. announced that they have joined forces with Arad Productions to bring Robosapien to the big screen. The feature film, which will combine live-action and CGI is targeted for release in 2009. With worldwide sales of more that 4 million units, Robosapien is the most popular entertainment robot in the world, and has become the standard by which all other Robots are measured. A beloved icon, Robosapien and his Wowwee Robotics “family” are currently featured premiums in McDonald’s Happy Meal and Mighty Kids Meal program....

Soap opera and indie horror actress Robyn Griggs has passed away. Diagnosed in 2020, Griggs had been fighting a battle against stage IV cervical cancer, and it was recently revealed on her personal social media channels that she would be entering hospice this weekend. A subsequent post on her Instagram posted by a friend has announced Griggs’ passing from her illness at the age of 49. View this post on Instagram...

While Ron Howard recently noted that a follow-up to Solo: A Star Wars Story is not a high priority for Lucasfilm at this time concerning the future fo the franchise, the director also seems to hope that he turns out to be wrong on that. Released in 2018, Solo brought something new to the table, serving as a prequel with Alden Ehrenreich leading the cast as a younger Han Solo. The film came up short at the box office, perhaps in part due to this experimental approach, though it did garner positive reviews with more and more Star Wars fans warming up to the film in the years since....

Many people were affected by the death of Robin Williams in 2014, from fans to colleagues and friends. While the hidden inner trauma of the actor became apparent after this untimely passing, the revelations about his mental suffering forced a number of those who knew him to contemplate their own work/life balance. One such person was Buffy the Vampire Slayer star Sarah Michelle Gellar, who took a step away from her career following the death of Williams, and she recently reflected on the reasons for her break while speaking to People Magazine....

Before I moved out to Los Angeles from the Arctic Circle South a.k.a. Minnesota, there were several selling points for the move out here. Star Trek: Discovery Season 4 Episode 5 revealed that it has paid tribute to the iconic Star Trek: Voyager character, Captain Kathryn Janeway. The episode, titled “The Examples,” follows three ships embarking on a journey to investigate the Dark Matter Anomaly (DMA) that destroyed Kwejian. One of the ships identifies itself as USS Janeway, quite possibly named after the famed captain of USS Voyager, accompanied by another vessel from the United Federation of Planets....

Just after Disney announced a new Star Wars movie trilogy from The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, Disney CEO Bob Iger told investors on a quarterly earnings conference call that the studio is developing a Star Wars live-action TV Show as well. The series is being planned for the studio’s new streaming service, that will be ready to launch by the end of 2019. While no details about the show itself have been given, there have been numerous rumors about a live-action Star Wars TV show throughout the years, and it seems this is finally coming to fruition....

Steven Tyler has decided to depart his role as a judge on American Idol. MGM is looking to raise as much as $600 million to finance an upcoming film slate, including Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Ringsprequel, The Hobbit, additional Pink Panther comedies starring Steve Martin, and a remake of the 1980 musical Fame, Bloomberg News reported today (Tuesday). “In the past, movie studios haven’t offered Wall Street the opportunity to participate in their biggest and best films,” MGM spokesman Jeff Pryor told the wire service....

PIRATES CHASE PORN PRODUCERS Producers of pornographic movies may be the biggest losers from online piracy, according to a new report by the NDP Group. In a study, NDP said that 60 percent of movies being downloaded via peer-to-peer services are “adult” films. Moreover, one company, Apple, reportedly accounts for 90 percent of legitimate – i.e. paid – video downloading. Sixty-two percent downloaded TV shows; 24 percent, music videos; while the rest downloaded movies....

ALL-STAR GAME STARS IN RATINGS Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game, together with a double play of So You Think You Can Dance and a strong performance by the out-of-left-field reality series Hell’s Kitchen,easily gave Fox a win for the week among the key 18-49-year-old demographic group, while CBS continued to attract the most viewers overall. NEW ICE AGE EXPECTED TO BE HOT Global warming will take a holiday at the box office this holiday weekend as a new Ice Agedawns with an expected five-day take of about $60-70 million, according to industry forecasters. Last year, Will Smith’s Hancocktook first place with $62.6 million. In a surprise, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaursleaped ahead of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallenout of the holiday starting gate on Wednesday with an official take of $13,791,157 – the seventh-best opening for an Independence Day holiday....

TOON TIME Demonstrating once again that Christmas and cartoons are made for each other, DreamWorks Animation’s Shrek the Third dominated retail sales and video-store rentals in its debut last week, while in its second week Disney/Pixar’s Ratatouilleplaced second, according to Home Mediamagazine.
