Anchor Bay Films has picked up the rights to Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa’s film Mac & Devin Go to High School. The agreement includes all rights, excluding subscription VOD, for the U.S., Australia and New Zealand. Directed by Dylan C. Brown, Mac & Devin Go to High School follows the release of the chart-topping soundtrack of the same name which debuted back in December 2011. Additionally, the film will be supported by Snoop and Wiz at numerous upcoming tour dates....

Television personality and former district attorney Star Jones Reynolds, who began her television career at Court TV in 1991 as a legal commentator, has joined Court TV as executive editor and host of a new daytime talk show. Marlene Dann, executive vice president of Court TV, announced that Reynolds will host a one-hour, live, daily show. The program will offer a fresh perspective to the day’s most talked-about crime and justice stories from the news and pop culture arenas....

Starz Entertainment has green-lit a new original adventure series titled Da Vinci’s Demons, developed and produced by BBC Worldwide Productions. This is the first project to enter production under the multi-year agreement Starz signed with BBC Worldwide Productions earlier this summer. The series was jointly announced today by Starz Media Managing Director, Carmi Zlotnik and BBC Worldwide Productions Head, Jane Tranter. Written by David S. Goyer, co-writer of blockbuster and critically-acclaimed films Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and writer of the highly anticipated Man of Steel, the eight-episode series is scheduled to begin production in early-2012....

Pianist Leon Fleisher, actor and writer Steve Martin, singer Diana Ross, film director Martin Scorsese, and songwriter Brian Wilson will receive honors for the year 2007, on The 30th Annual Kennedy Center Honors, to be broadcast Wednesday, Dec. 26 (9:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. This marks the 30th anniversary of the special, which has been broadcast on CBS each year since its debut. In a star-studded celebration on the Kennedy Center Opera House stage, the 2007 Honorees will be saluted by great performers from Hollywood and the arts capitals of the world....

SITTING IN THE DOCK OF THE BAY Never were the seas more stormy for The Pirate Bay than they were Monday as what was only described as a hardware issue brought the torrent-tracking website to a virtual halt – just as the trial of its leaders was winding up in Stockholm. As for the service interruption, the website TorrentFreak, which reports on the BitTorrent world, commented, “One can’t help but think that if The Pirate Bay was a traditional business making lots of profits as the prosecution in the case would have everyone believe, the site wouldn’t suffer anywhere near the amount of downtime it does....

STUDIOS WALK OUT OF STRIKE TALKS Hopes of a resolution of the Hollywood writers’ strike before the holidays were dashed Friday night as studio negotiators angrily walked out of talks, accusing negotiators for the writers of being incompetent and self-serving. In a statement, the Association of Motion Picture and Television Producers said: “The WGA organizers sitting across the table from us have never concluded even one industry accord.” It added that the WGA negotiators were determined to advance their “personal agendas at the expense of working writers and every other working person who depends on our industry for their livelihoods....

PEACOCK TO BE PLUCKED Despite notable improvements in each of its broadcast units, NBC Universal is expected to announce today (Thursday) widespread cost-cutting measures, including the elimination of 5 percent of its work force, amounting to about 700 jobs, by the end of next year, published reports said today. The network reportedly plans to stop scheduling costly programs in the 8:00 p.m. hour, when the total number of TV viewers is smaller than it is at 9:00 p....

Consumers are going to get their Blu-ray expanded. In a story from DVD Town, at a Blu-ray Event in Hollywood Fox Home Entertainment announced that Sunshine will be the first Blu-ray release to offer “Picture in Picture” capabilities. “This feature allows for a second video source to lay on top of the main film. This can be used for various special features including video commentaries and ‘making of’ pieces.” What makes the Sunshine Blu-ray disc release different, is that it “will be the first to do it with two separate streams on Blu-ray (this had initially been done by creating an entire new video with the second video stream hard encoded into the other)....

Syfy announced today that Being Human will come to an end after Season 4, which currently airs on Monday nights at 9 PM ET. The network has released a video featuring cast members Sam Witwer (Aiden Waite), Meaghan Rath (Sally Malik), Sam Huntington (Josh Levison) and Kristen Hager (Nora Sergeant), where they thank the fans for all their support, and talk about what the experience of shooting this series truly meant to them....

The 100 cast and crew took on Comic-Con@Home this afternoon. The main focus of the panel was to tease what’s in store this final season and how the journey may end. Series stars Marie Avgeropoulos, Lindsey Morgan, Richard Harmon, Tasya Teles, Shannon Kook, JR Bourne, Shelby Flannery, and creator/executive producer Jason Rothenberg all took part in the panel from their respective locations.
