1996’s Scream changed the horror movie genre forever; shaking up the slasher movie formula with a refreshing take, delivering ingenious social commentary, and presenting audiences with many of the best-written characters in all of horror. Kevin Williamson, the main writer of the Scream franchise, has flawlessly provided many well-rounded, beloved, intriguing, and diverse characters, with some truly investing character arcs. Due to this, it’s safe to say that Scream delivers possibly the best showcase of well-written and developed characters in the entire horror genre....

One of the things I wished they would do at the end of the San Diego Comic-Con is hand out a complementary t-shirt or button or some sort of memento that says simply this: “I Survived the San Diego Comic-Con.” There’s no need to put the supplemental saying, “… and all I got was this lousy (insert whatever),” because there is PLENTY one gets from Comic-Con, in many forms: swag, exclusive new information and/or footage on film and television and, for press folks like me, tons of interviews, scoops, gossip and amazing parties chocked full of celebrities and free booze....

Many fans noticed in The Walking Dead Season 8 premiere that there were a number of references to other iconic moments from the show’s history, including Carl (Chandler Riggs) recreating a scene from the pilot episode, where Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) is out looking for gas, along with an infamous orange backpack from Season 3 and a callback to the “look at the flowers” line Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) delivered in Season 4....

Fox Searchlight Pictures Presidents Nancy Utley and Stephen Gilula announced today that the company has acquired U.S. rights to the intimate and provocative drama Shame. The film is directed by Steve McQueen, written by McQueen and Abi Morgan and stars Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan. Shame is a See-Saw Films production for Film4 and U.K. Film Council and produced by Iain Canning and Emile Sherman. Tessa Ross, Robert Walak, Peter Hampden and Tim Haslam are executive producers with Bergen Swanson as co-producer....

Seeing more women supervillains would be exciting as Marvel Studios continues to grow its empire. Currently, Hela is the sole reigning woman villain in the Thor saga. She was vicious and ruthless in her desire to conquer the universe. One of the main reasons Hela was a formidable villain for Thor is due to Cate Blanchett’s performance. When casting a villain, especially a woman villain, they must be willing to use the cemented foundation and be even more despicable....

You can take this new movie from the streets to your home this July. Step Up 2: The Streets is coming to DVD and Blu-Ray on July 15. Steven Spielberg has committed himself to direct the sci-fi robot project Robopocalypse as his next movie, according to Deadline. It was first hinted that Steven Spielberg could direct the movie back in March, although he chose to direct the adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s novel War Horse instead. The Daniel H. Wilson novel that Robopocalypse is based on wasn’t finished at that time, but now the novel is done, due to be published in June 2011, with Drew Goddard finishing the screenplay adaptation while the novel was still being completed....

During a Q & A session at the University of Southern California film school, director Steven Spielberg updated the crowd on what is going on with his latest projects. He is working with writers on the script to Jurassic Park IV and says that there is going to be a big dinosaur sequence where a pack of motorcycles are forced to out run a bunch of Raptors. Spielberg said that just with the other films in the series, he‘s going to “cherry pick” certain scenes he loved from the books and include them in the new film....

It’s been just over two weeks since Stranger Things Season 2 debuted on Netflix and fans just can’t stop talking about everything that’s happening in Hawkins, Indiana. While it may seem too early to start thinking about Stranger Things Season 3, series creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer confirmed that, much like the 10-month gap between Season 1 and Season 2, there will be a significant time gap between Season 2 and Season 3....

BOX OFFICE RESUMES RETREAT The box office resembled the stock market last weekend as its total gross fell 8.31 percent below the same weekend a year ago and 11 percent below the previous weekend, the first weekend in eight that the box office reported an improvement over last year’s results. While total revenue for the year is down only 0.78 percent, attendance has fallen 4.66 percent. Only two films earned more than $10 million, Sony’s Lakeview Terrace, which debuted with $15 million, and Focus Features’ Burn After Reading,which took in $11 million in its second week....

EXPIRES After 15 years, E.R.was taken off life support Thursday night with a two-hour episode that featured former cast members Noah Wyle, Eriq La Salle,Laura Innes, Sherry Stringfield, and Alex Kingston and was written by onetime E.R.executive producer John Wells. The finale averaged 16.23 million viewers, peaking in the third half-hour with 17.77 million – good enough to give NBC a win on Thursday night, a night that it once dominated, but far from the 30 million plus that E....

TNT will air a 20-hour marathon of favorite Supernatural episodes to get fans ready for the latest season of the hit series. The haunting drama will take over TNT’s lineup Thursday, Sept. 23, at midnight (ET/PT) through Friday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m. (ET/PT) to build excitement for the series’ sixth season premiere on The CW (Friday, Sept. 24, at 9 p.m.). The marathon will include several episodes from Supernatural’s fifth season, including the season premiere and season finale....

TBS has cancelled their late-night talk show The Pete Holmes Show after two seasons. The series will wrap up its run on Thursday, June 19 at 12 AM ET. The news comes just a week after the network renewed Conan through the year 2018. The series debuted in October, following Conan at 11 PM ET, airing 28 episodes during its first cycle. TBS renewed the program for 13 additional weeks back in January, which debuted on February 24, airing from Monday night to Thursday night....

The Comedy is a 2012 film directed by Rick Alverson.
