Jackass 3D star Ryan Dunn passed away earlier this morning, just weeks after his 34th birthday. Ryan Dunn and an unidentified passenger were killed after a car crash at approxmiately 3 A.M. in West Goshen Township, Pennsylvania. It isn’t known if Ryan Dunn or the unknown casualty were driving the car at the time of the crash. Just hours before the crash, Ryan Dunn posted a photo on his Twitter account, which showed him drinking alcohol with two friends....

Last week, I had the chance to speak with Scott Waugh for Act of Valor, which debuts on Blu-ray and DVD June 5. When I asked him about any other projects he was working on, the filmmaker told me he’s delving into television with a new action series for TNT entitled R.E.A.C.T.. That loveable green ogre is a hit once again on video. Shrek the Third made a big debut on video last week, topping both the sales and rental charts for the week ending November 18. The popular series Smallville told the story of how a young Clark Kent (played by Tom Welling) came to grips with his growing superpowers and became the world’s greatest hero. The show ran for ten seasons and racked up more than 200 episodes. Over the course of the series, Smallville had plenty of guest actors, including the late Star Wars legend Carrie Fisher. More recently, during a recent episode of the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, series star Michael Rosenbaum (who played the iconic villain Lex Luthor) recalled a hilarious story about Fisher’s short time on Smallville....

Many of Sofia Vergara’s fans are used to seeing the actress in comedy mode as one of the lead stars of Modern Family, the hugely popular sitcom that helped the Columbian actress become the highest-paid female star in Hollywood in 2020. According to Variety, Sony’s Spider-Man 3 set records Tuesday in every one of the eight Asian territories in which it bowed. The movie opens in dozens of other territories in the next few days, culminating Friday in its domestic launch on 4,253 theaters, the widest North American opening of all time. The film launched Tuesday in more than a dozen key territories, including Japan, France, Germany, Italy and South Korea. George Miller may still be upset that Australia isn’t offering the tax rebate to Justice League: Mortal, but that doesn’t seem to be keeping the movie from proceeding with casting news. In an article that retreads Miller’s complaints about the Australian government, ContactMusic.com dropped the tantalizing news that Heroes star Stephen Tobolowsky is reportedly in negotiations to play Batman’s butler Alfred Pennyworth. Tobolowsky plays the role of Bob Bishop on Heroes....

In this modern age of binge watching, the biggest downside is that, the quicker you get through a show, the longer you have to wait until the new season arrives. As for Netflix’s Stranger Things, which has become a cultural phenomenon in the five weeks since it launched, the streaming service’s CEO Reed Hastings teased that they’d be “dumb” not to renew the show, although the renewal hasn’t been made official quite yet....

BATTLE OF THE KIOSKS SHAPING UP Alex Camara, the recently appointed head of NCR’s entertainment division, says that his company plans to install 10,000 Blockbuster Express video kiosks in stores by the end of next year. (Five hundred are currently installed.) The figure is roughly half the number of Redbox kiosks that are already in place in supermarkets, convenience stores, drugstores, and McDonald’s restaurants. But Camara points out that the kiosks that NCR is building for Blockbuster will hold twice the number of titles as Redbox’s....

REPORT: IDOL PRODUCERS WILL CAN ABDUL Despite Paul Abdul’s intimation that she has no plans to leave American Idolwillingly when her contract runs out at the end of this season (“I love the show, I do. I love what I do on the show,” she said on ABC’s NightlineThursday night), Chicago Sun-TimesTV columnist Bill Zwecker reported today (Friday) that this will be Abdul’s final season on the show. “They want her off the show,” a longtime staff member on the show told Zwecker....

2012 promises to be the year of Supercrooks, the latest comic book title from Mark Millar. The property is coming to the big screen courtesy of Universal Pictures and director Nacho Vigalondo sometime in 2014. But first, Supercrooks will debut at Comic Book shops across the country, starting with a sneak-peek lead-in story that will appear in the pages of CLiNT #15, on sale March 28th. To coincide with this launch of Supercrooks, a live action teaser trailer has been released, which offers a taste of both the upcoming comic book and the impending feature film....
