A 70s horror classic is getting a high-definition upgrade this October. The Amityville Horror will be released on Blu-Ray on October 7. It seems this will be a bare-bones release with no special features and the disc will be priced at $39.98 SRP. The film stars James Brolin, Margot Kidder and Rod Steiger. Locksmith Animation, the studio behind Ron’s Gone Wrong, is back for more! The studio has announced its second animated feature film, as well as its second collaboration with DNEG Animation. The film will be called That Christmas. That Christmas, formerly titled The Empty Stocking, will be based on a trio of children’s books by filmmaker Richard Curtis and featured illustrations by Rebecca Cobb. The three books in question are The Empty Stocking, Snow Day, and That Christmas....

The cast of Saved by the Bell reunited over the weekend. Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zack Morris), Mario Lopez (A.C. Slater), Tiffani Thiessen (Kelly Kapowski), and Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie Spano) got together for dinner and drinks in the San Fernando Valley. Missing in action were Lark Voorhies (Lisa Turtle) and obviously Dustin Diamond (Screech Powers). Voorhies has not participated in any of the other times the cast has gotten together and Diamond isn’t really welcome after dragging the cast through the mud publicly over the past several years....

There are new plans being formed for the next decade with the creative future of the DCU, and this has at least one Shazam! star feeling excited. Released in 2019, Shazam! follows Asher Angel as Billy Batson, a young boy with the ability to transform into the titular superhero (as played by Zachary Levi). As the film was a big success for Warner Bros., a sequel was put into development, and Angel will reprise his role for the upcoming sequel Shazam!...

Ain’t It Cool News is reporting a rumor that Shia La Beouf may be cast in the next installment of Indiana Jones. I’ve read one of the recent version of INDY 4, and there were no new family members added. That pleased me greatly. However, they’ve thrown that version out now, and whatever David Koepp’s done, he’s made the people over at Dreamworks very, very happy. And now that they’re getting close to production, I’ve heard a persistent rumor, a new version of that old familiar....

The unexpected success of the 2020 movie Sonic the Hedgehog all but guaranteed that more films would be made. Sonic is a character who has been around since 1991 and has had almost as many videogames as his contemporary, Mario, so whether there would be more movies depended entirely on whether the first one would do well. The addition of Sonic’s foxy sidekick Tails and his favorite frienemy Knuckles were also all but guaranteed when the sequel was announced....

TNT has ordered a third season of its hit sci-fi thriller Snowpiercer, cable’s #1 new drama series. Season two premieres on Monday, January 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on TNT. The first season of Snowpiercer debuted as the #1 new cable entertainment program in May with 3.3 million total viewers across TNT and TBS and remains the #1 new cable drama series of 2020. The series premiere marked TNT’s largest premiere since The Alienist in 2018, and the show has reached 32 million viewers to date across TNT’s linear and digital platforms....

Fox Searchlight Pictures Presidents Stephen Gilula and Nancy Utley announced today that the company has acquired rights to English speaking territories, including North America, United Kingdom and Australia, for the suspenseful drama Sound of My Voice theatrical release. Directed by Zal Batmanglij and written by Batmanglij and Brit Marling, Sound of My Voice stars Brit Marling, Christopher Denham, Nicole Vicius and Avery Kristen Pohl. The Starz series Spartacus: Blood and Sand is still seeking a replacement for its leading man Andy Whitfield after he left the show back in September. Deadline is reporting that the leading candidates for the job are actors Stephen Amell, Aiden Turner and Liam McIntyre. Andy Whitfield was forced to leave the show after he was diagnosed with Stage 1 non-Hodgkin lymphoma. At the time, it wasn’t immediately clear if the show would re-cast the title role, although the producers ultimately agreed to continue the show and re-cast....

Spike Lee and HBO’s epic documentary, When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts, is the centerpiece of a new curriculum package that will be available this fall for high school, college and community educators. The documentary, for which Lee and Sam Pollard recently won the 2006 George Polk Award for Documentary Television, will be accompanied by a multi-disciplinary curriculum guide, “Teaching The Levees: A Curriculum for Democratic Dialogue and Civic Engagement to Accompany the HBO Documentary Film Event,” published and distributed by Teachers College Press....

A 1980s horror icon has made his way unto this season of Stranger Things. Robert Englund, known for his role as charismatic boogeyman Freddy Krueger on Nightmare on Elm Street, appears as Victor Creel, a man blamed for the 1950s murders of his daughter and wife. Creel is adamant that a demon is to blame for the murders and is sent to live in an asylum.
