MTV chatted with Spider-Man 4 director Sam Raimi on Sunday who just announced a release date of May 6, 2011 for the project last week. Raimi confirmed that he and “the writers and producers are working out what the story will be, but haven’t been talking in terms of Part 4 and 5.” He also stated that they are only working on the 4th film, and contrary to rumors, not the 5th film....
A year after Blue Sky Studios was officially shut down, the studio released one final hurrah. This project took the form of six shorts starring their beloved nutty mascot, and it was titled Ice Age: Scrat Tales. But while the shorts had their grand premiere today on Disney+, something extra was revealed to the internet and gave a perfect sendoff to the studio. Yes, Scrat finally got his beloved acorn. When 1976’s Carrie starring Sissy Spacek premiered, the horror film was an instant hit. Adapted from the novel of the same name by Stephen King, the critically acclaimed film followed the abused, bullied teenager Carrie White (Spacek) as she exacts telekinetic revenge after a cruel high school prank. One of the brightest spots of Sonic the Hedgehog was Jim Carrey in his unforgettable portrayal as the villainous Dr. Robotnik. When Marvel Studios and Sony released the first full trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans immediately picked apart every frame of footage to find where the trailer had been manipulated in order to fool them into thinking that Tom Holland was the only Spider-Man in the movie. As many fans of Stephen King may have expected, the author has revealed that we have not seen the last of his character Holly Gibney, the investigator with unique observational skills introduced in Mr. Mercedes and reappeared in The Outsider and its novella sequel. TALKS STRIKING OUT? A CEO of one of the big six media companies negotiating with the Writers Guild of America has told entertainment reporter Alex Ben Block that if the industry applied the writers’ latest proposals to each of the other deals it will have to make with actors’ and directors’ guilds, “we would lose money every time we streamed a show over the Internet.” The unnamed mogul is quoted on Block’s Hollywood Today website as calculating that the flat fees applied across the board to the three unions would amount to about 150 percent of the producer/distributor costs....
WHO WANTS TO BE A RATINGS WINNER? ABC scored its biggest ratings success last week since Who Wants to Be a Millionairedominated Nielsen’s top-ten list in 2000. Moreover, for the fourth straight week, it was the top-rated network among adults 18-49, the demographic group that advertisers most covet. It has not had that sort of run since 1993. CBS, however, continued as the most-viewed network among overall viewers and tied ABC for first place last week in the 18-49 demo....
PEACOCK BITES APPLE; APPLE BITES BACK In what amounted to a blistering hardball maneuver, Apple announced on Friday that it will not offer any of NBC’s shows for the coming season on its iTunes Music Store. The announcement came in a response to an earlier announcement by NBC that it would not renew its contract with Apple when it expires at the end of the year. But some analysts suggested that NBC’s stance was merely a negotiating ploy to force Apple to increase the fees it charges for downloads of the network’s programs while still allowing consumers to sample new programs, such as Bionic Woman, Chuck, andJourneyman at their leisure when the shows launch this month....

Earl Boen, best known for his roles in the Terminator movies, passed away yesterday in Hawaii. Alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger, Boen appeared in three of the Terminator films. According to Variety, the voice and character actor was 81 years old and had been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in the fall. Boen was an actor who wasn’t a household name for many, yet he worked consistently in film and television. Boen retired from on-camera work in 2003 but nevertheless continued to do voice-over until he officially retired from all acting work in 2017....
An all-new clip has just been released for The Adam Project. Set to start streaming on Netflix next month, the time travel thriller features Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds in a lead role alongside newcomer Walker Scobell.
