Audiences have responded enthusiastically to showrunner Eric Kripke’s adaptation of Garth Ennis’ comic book series The Boys, about a psychopathic group of superheroes, and the equally psychopathic group of ordinary people who plot to stop them. Now, The Boys is getting a spinoff series set in a superhero college. In an interview with TheWrap, Kripke confirmed the spinoff will be taking a few cues from the X-Men. In Garth Ennis’ comic series, The G-Men were created as a parody of Marvel Comics’ X-Men series....

When Netflix’s Dahmer—Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story hit the streaming service in September, no one knew what to expect. Out of respect for the real-life victims of the “Milwaukee Cannibal” and their relatives, showrunner Ryan Murphy kept marketing for the series to the absolute minimum. Sarah Silverman has signed on to guest star on an upcoming episode of CBS’ The Good Wife, the show’s writers tweeted: Sarah Silverman will play the smart, funny owner of a sexually explicit website devoted to connecting married people who are looking to have affairs. She’s sued by a woman who is convinced that her husband was murdered as a result of using the website and must turn to Alicia (Julianna Margulies) and the firm for help....

Back in October, MTV announced a renewal for Scream Season 3, which came just days before the Scream Halloween special was set to air on MTV. The network handed out just a six-episode order for the show, with Michael Gans and Richard Register also leaving as showrunners, but today the network has announced that there will be a full series reboot in Season 3. MTV has brought on Brett Matthews as the new showrunner, with Queen Latifah also joining the series as an executive producer, through her Flavor Unit Entertainment company....

Chiller and Universal Studios Hollywood announces the winner of the 2009 “Halloween Horror Nights-Chiller Scary Good Film Competition,” which offered filmmakers an opportunity to have their scariest short film rewarded with a broadcast on Chiller, a $1,000 cash prize and a trip for two (2) to the October 2 opening night of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood. Brent Spiner believes that it’s just a matter of time before Paramount Pictures reboots Star Trek: The Next Generation as a new movie with a younger cast. From the start of the series until its end in 1994, Spiner portrayed the android crew member Lieutenant Commander Data. Variety reports that Stephen King has inked a deal to turn his novella The Colorado Kid into an hourlong series for the indie studio E1 Entertainment. The studio currently produces Hung for HBO. The show will be called Haven and it takes place in a “spooky town in Maine where cursed folk live normal lives in exile. When those curses start returning, FBI agent Audrey Parker is brought in to keep those supernatural forces at bay – while trying to unravel the mysteries of Haven....

UP IN THE SKY: IT’S SUPER RATINGSSunday’s Super Bowl XL telecast from Detroit between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Seattle Seahawks did not break ratings records, but it was close enough. According to Nielsen overnights, the ABC telecast scored a 41.8 rating and a 62 share, down by about 4 percent from last year’s 43.4/63 but up a tad from 2004’s 41.4/63. (Because of the live nature of the telecast, with the West Coast viewing it three hours earlier than the East, final results, to be announced later today, could significantly alter the figure....

CALL IN THE CLONES Anyone tuning in to a Turner Networks cable channel at 7:58 tonight (Thursday) will be able to view a two-minute trailer for Lucasfilm’s animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars, whichpremieres theatrically on August 15. The trailer will air on the Cartoon Network, CNN, TNT, TBS and Boomerang. The long-awaited reunion between Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson is almost here as Christopher Meloni has arrived at the set of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Adding a devilish touch to its line-up, TBS has greenlit the half-hour animated series Neighbors From Hell, which comes to the network from Fox TV Animation (Family Guy), DreamWorks Animation SKG, Inc. and Jeffrey Katzenberg (Shrek). Pam Brady (South Park), who wrote the pilot episode, and Mireille Soria (Madagascar) will serve as executive producers. TBS has ordered 10 episodes of the series, marking the network’s first foray into original primetime animation....
