SAG TO GET “LAST, BEST, AND FINAL OFFER” The major film studios and TV networks are planning to make the Screen Actors Guild “a last, best and final offer” as early as next week, Daily Varietyreported today (Friday), citing no sources. If the guild refuses to accept it or does not back off from demands for higher DVD and Internet residuals than those agreed to by the DGA, WGA and AFTRA, production will halt at the end of June, the expiration of the current agreement, the trade publication said....

It seems that ABC has picked up an orphan from the CW Network, and given it a prime timeslot. According to Variety, ABC has acquired the series Surviving Suburbia from Media Rights Capital. The series was originally set to air on the CW Network, but after their ties with MRC were severed, the show was left without a network, when ABC made the move. The network has also given the series a great timeslot, airing at Monday nights at 9:30 PM, starting on April 6, getting a huge lead-in from Dancing with the Stars....

The Amazing Spider-Man, a new Marvel Studios reboot of the popular superhero, has been considered in the press to be a straight-up reestablishing of the Peter Parker character and his particular comic book mythos. Marvel Executive producer Avi Arad has come forward to say that isn’t entirely true. While director Marc Webb has a new Peter Parker in Andrew Garfield, the upcoming first installment of this new reboot will still have ties to Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy....

More images from The Batman have been released. Introducing Robert Pattinson as a new incarnation of the Dark Knight, the Matt Reeves-directed film also stars Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Paul Dano as Riddler, and Colin Farrell as Penguin. New images have been released of these characters from the newest issue of Empire and they’re now floating around on social media. One photo depicts Batman and Jim Gordon looking for clues, while another has the Dark Knight face to face with Catwoman....

The Batman spinoff series focusing on Colin Farrell’s iteration of Penguin is one of the two series currently in development with Warner Bros. and coming to HBO Max in the future. As is to be expected, there is not a lot of information currently available on the new series other than Farrell will be reprising his role as the would-be crime boss of Gotham. Just prior to The Batman’s London premiere last night, Farrell chatted to ET about creating his new version of the iconic comic book villain and how he believes the series will delve deeper into the character before any previous movie....

Marion Cotillard joins the cast of Jacques Audiard’s Rust and Bone, a big screen adaptation of a short story by writer Craig Davidson. In the story, Craig Davidson conjures a savage world populated by fighting dogs, prizefighters, sex addicts, and gamblers. The twenty-seven bones of the title story are the bones in a boxer’s hands; once broken, they never heal properly, and the fighter’s career descends to bouts that have less to do with sport than with survival: no referee, no rules, not even gloves....

While Tina Fey’s spot-on impersonation of Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin has bolstered Saturday Night Live’s ratings, it seems the tables may be turned in a hilarious way. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Saturday Night Live executive producer Lorne Michaels said Sarah Palin will appear as Tina Fey on the late-night comedy hour, “all in due time.” While it remains unclear when this might happen it seems that Palin herself would be up for appearing as Fey....

The Scotsman caught up with actor Sean Connery who confirmed that he is considering taking on the role of Dr. Henry Jones in the upcoming Indiana Jones 4, now in development. The Scottish actor played Indiana Jones’ (Harrison Ford) father in the third Indiana Jones film, “Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade” released in 1989: Indiana Jones 4 is scheduled to be released in May, 2008. Five years after apparently closing the dressing room door on his acting career, Connery has confirmed he is considering returning to the silver screen to reprise one of his most popular roles....

As the subject of internet memes in their dozens, jokes about the youthful appearance of Paul Rudd is something that will never age, literally. In a recent interview, Rudd’s buddy Seth Rogen has been jibing about his frequent co-star’s ability to seemingly defy his 52 years and retain the looks of someone decades younger. Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz star Simon Pegg has teased future projects alongside writer/director Edgar Wright. The pair have teamed up many times over the years, with their collaboration resulting in some of the most beloved comedies of modern times, including The Cornetto Trilogy and the superb series Spaced on the small screen. British actor Tom Mison (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen) has signed onto star as Ichabod Crane in the Fox pilot Sleepy Hollow. He joins a cast that already includes Nicole Beharie, Orlando Jones, and Katia Winter. The pilot puts a unique twist on the classic Sleepy Hollow tale, as it takes place both in present day and during the Revolutionary War. The story follows Ichabod Crane, a war captain who unexpectedly warps a into present-day version of Sleepy Hollow, where he partners with a young detective (Nicole Beharie) to solve crimes....

Fans of the smash-hit TV series Smallville haven’t had much to cheer about since the show ended its critically acclaimed 10-year run on The CW last May. That’s all going to change with the upcoming new comic book series from DC Entertainment: Smallville Season 11. Written by former Smallville show scribe Bryan Q. Miller, the new digital first series will be published digitally on April 13, 2012, with new digital chapters released weekly thereafter....

AMC Theatres and Fever Productions today announced an exclusive partnership on the national theatrical release of the highly anticipated horror/thriller film Smiley from director Michael J. Gallagher (Totally Sketch). Beginning Oct. 12, AMC will exclusively release the film theatrically through its AMC independent platform on 28 screens in 14 markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston and Atlanta. The release will also be supported by a marketing campaign from AMC....
