Shelley returns! Netflix has released the very first image of Shelley from Season 2 of Eli Roth’s Emmy-nominated Netflix original series, Hemlock Grove, played by series newcomer, Madeleine Martin (Californication), who takes over the role from Season 1 actress Nicole Boivin. New showrunner/executive producer, Charles “Chic” Eglee (The Walking Dead, Dexter) joins Season 2 of the riveting supernatural thriller, starring Famke Janssen (X-Men), Bill Skarsgård (Simon & the Oaks), Landon Liboiron (Terra Nova) and Dougray Scott (Mission: Impossible 2)....

Hot off the continued critical and audience acclaim for the second seasons of Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex, Showtime is green lighting third seasons for both of its hit drama series. The announcement was made today by David Nevins, President, Showtime Networks Inc. Both series will receive 12 one-hour episode orders, and will begin production in early 2015. Here’s what David Nevins had to say in a statement regarding the renewals....

A grieving girl traverses fantastical dreams and nightmares with a mischievous “outlaw” in search of magic pearls. Slumberland gets style points for creativity and eye-popping visual effects, but runs way too long with a melodramatic narrative. Blockbuster director Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend, The Hunger Games franchise) doesn’t disappoint with scope and grandeur. The film looks amazing. The problem is that its overambitious. Slumberland pours on excess in moments that required subtlety....

Time will tell if Solo: A Star Wars Story ever gets a follow-up, but if Lucasfilm ever decides to go back down that road, co-writer Lawrence Kasdan will be waiting. Along with Jonathan Kasdan, Kasdan co-wrote the screenplay for Solo which was released in 2018 by director Ron Howard. There were many Star Wars fans who embraced the film, but not quite enough went out to see it in theaters upon its release, as Solo performed far below Lucasfilm’s expectations....

On Thursday, July 21st, 2022 at San Diego Comic-Con, Spider-Verse co-creator and prolific Marvel Comics writer Dan Slott was honored for his work with an Inkpot Award. He joins the ranks of many additional Marvel creators for their contributions to the genre that defines all movie box office hits, superhero comics! Casting on two key roles for Outlander Season 4 was announced today by Starz, in association with Sony Pictures Television: Maria Doyle Kennedy (Orphan Black, The Tudors) will portray Jocasta, Jamie’s strong willed Aunt and Ed Speleers (Wolf Hall, Downton Abbey) will play the role of Irishman Stephen Bonnet, a pirate and smuggler. Filming of Outlander Season Four commenced this week in Scotland. The fourth season of the Golden Globe nominated series Outlander will include 13 episodes based upon Drums of Autumn, the fourth of eight books in Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling Outlander series....

Netflix has been rolling out new Stranger Things 2 posters for their weekly #StrangerThursdays initiative, where each one-sheet pays homage to a classic movie from the 1980s, but today, we have a much different poster, that starts the countdown to Halloween. The series kicks off on Friday, October 27, but the show itself will open on Halloween in the year 1984, one year after the events that transpired in the first season, and we know that this group of young kids in Hawkins, Indiana will be dressing up as the Ghostbusters for Halloween, but before the trick or treating starts, there seems to be some sinister activity at the local pumpkin patch....

POTTERMANIA CONTINUES TO MOUNT Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenixhas continued to pile up huge receipts at the box office following its record-breaking debut last week. On its seventh full day of release on Monday, the movie grossed $10.4 million, bringing its total to $150.1 million. Meanwhile, photographs of the pages of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the final Potter novel,were appearing on the Internet Tuesday, apparently upsetting elaborate security precautions aimed at preventing details of the book from being revealed before its July 21 publishing date....

i>SUPERBAD SUPER STRONG FOR SONY The raunchy comedy Superbadturned out to be super good for Sony, which singled the movie out as a major reason for a 5 percent rise in its movie business in its second quarter. In an SEC filing, it also reported a profit of $23 million in its film division versus a loss of $133 million during last year’s comparable quarter. The turnaround was accomplished despite fewer theatrical releases and the underperformance of the Beatles musical Across the Universe,the company said....

i>FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS REMAIN LIT Saying that he had “structured an innovative deal” with DirecTV to keep Friday Night Lightsalive, NBC Entertainment Co-Chairman Ben Silverman announced Wednesday that the critically praised but low-rated series would return to the air next fall with all-new episodes that would first air on the home-satellite company’s entertainment channel, The 101, beginning in October and then rerun on NBC early next year. In a conference call with reporters, Silverman said that he wanted to save the show because “if I had one more person on a plane tell me it’s their favorite show, I was going to lose my mind....

CUOMO GOES TO GMA BUT WON’T REPLACE GIBSON Chris Cuomo will become a regular on ABC’s Good Morning America, but he has apparently lost his bid to become co-anchor of the morning talk show with Diane Sawyer. Instead, he will become the news anchor of the program, while Robin Roberts, the previous GMAnews anchor, will continue to co-host with Sawyer. There had been considerable speculation that either Cuomo, WABC-TV anchor Bill Ritter, or weekend GMAhost Bill Weir would replace Charles Gibson as co-host of the program....

JACKSON’S FINAL REHEARSAL TO AIR The final rehearsal for Michael Jackson’s planned concert tour will likely be broadcast internationally, Chicago Sun-Times entertainment columnist Bill Zwecker reported today (Monday), citing a source at Anschutz Entertainment Group, the Los Angeles-based concert promotion and touring company that was staging Jackson’s comeback. A similar report appeared on Sharon Waxman’s blog, TheWrap.com. It was not immediately clear whether the company intends to distribute the rehearsal performance to theaters or whether it is planning a television special....
